MOONSHINERS HERE.
Deputy U. S. Marshall W W Milwee
Brings in Four of Them.
Deputy U. S. Marshall W. W. Mil-
wee came to the city last night with
the followihg prisoners from Sevier
ceunty: S. S. Frost Wm. Prestige
Duke Roberts and Marion Cuiming-
ham.
They were lodged in jail until yes-
terday when they were carried be-
fore U. S. Commissioner Gibson un-
der a charge of illicit distilling.
The evidence was not conclusive
against 'the men but they were
taken up as living nearest the
“plant” and if they did not run and
own it they must have been cogni-
zant of its being where it was found.
The Deputy Marshall destroyed
the plant and turned out several
hundred gallons of swill or beer and
captured a large number of gallons
of the whisky. Wm. Prestige is
thought to own the plant as it was
on his place where it was found and
his house was the storage place for
the liquor. The man Frost was liv-
ing with and working for Prestige
and he is thought to be implicated.
Roberts and Cunningham are neigh-
bors of Prestige aud they can be
sent up as accessories or of know-
ing the existence of the still and
not informing.
After the case heard the U.
S. commissioner placed the bonds of
all four at SSOO each and the Depu-
ty Marshall carried them back to
Sevier county yesterday to give
them a chance to make their bond
which they said they could easily
do.

Mr. Lucius Turner had an unwel-
come visitor on Friday evening after
twilight had set in the hour being
about 7:30.
The visitor was a professional
gentleman and did not stand on the
conventionalities of society and
therefore did not ring the door bell
and bow himself in but for fear ot
disturbing the serenity of the quiet
household he enterqd..Jjy a rear
door and proceeded to take an in-
ventory of Mr. Turner’s effects in
the rooms not being used at this
hour by the Turner household.
When Mr. Turner discovered that
he had been visited by some one who
did not mind leaving drawers open
and things disturbed generally he
looked about to see what he could
miss from his possessions. He found
that his roll of 175 in good money
was gone also his gold watch dia-
mond pin and two cases of solid sil-
ver knives valued at $25.
Mr Oscar Turner brother of Lu-
cius Turner who is a boarder lost
also by this visitor to the tune of
$25 which money belonged to the
Sunday school of which Oscar is
treasurer but the Sunday school
will be nope the loser as Oscar is
well fixed ami can replace it.
There is no clue to the Identity
of the rascal who made the raid.

THE LECTURE.
R. i • r *•' Rllace ti I;<<■ .fence Weav-
er Lovers Gur People With his
Lecture ou Pmiutauu Grady.
According to anuouncemeuf R.
Minor Wallace the gifted orator
and lecturer made his bow to a good
sited audience on Friday night at
the chapel hall of the Texarkana
College and Conservatory of Music.
The hall was well lighted and heat-
ed and the seats were comfortably >
arranged and those who attended
were made as comfortable as it they
were in their own parlors at home.
Prof. W. W Robertson made the j
introductory speech and he paid Mr.
Wallace a high tribute for his abili-
ty and complimented Texarkana
for drawing such ability here as a
citizen as Mr. Wallace had proven
himself.
Mr. Wallace introduced the mem-
ory of Prentiss and Grady by giving
a graphic picture of their life from
boyhood to the grave. How they
had struggled and sought after
knowledge and how they had suc-
ceeded in reaching the highest pin-
acle of giory in literature aud how
they had left behind names engrav-
ened on the tablets of fame and
their memory in the hearts of all
who have read after them.
The lecture was well constructed
entertaining instructive well de-
livered and applauded.
Professor Robertson after it was
finished again took the floor and
thanked those present for coming
out and announced that on Friday
night the pupils would give a con-
cert and he wished to invite those
present to be out and also others
not present would be given a wel-
come.
The National Complaint.
Dyspepsia' is the national com-
plaint. Almost every other man or
woman you meet has it and the re-
sult is that the number of pseudo-
remedies for it is as numerous as
Pharaoh’s host. They are for the
most part worthless. There is how-
ever a searching eradicant of this
distressing and obdurate malady
one whose genuine mei its long since
raised it to a foremost place among
the staple medicines of America.
Hostetter's Stomach Bitters extir-
pates dyspepsia with greater cer-
tainty and promptitude than any
known remedy and is a most genial
invigorant appetizer and aid to se-
cretion. These are not empty as-
sertions as thousands of our coun-
trymen and women who have ex-
perienced its effects are aware but
are backed up by irrefragable
proofs repeatedly . laid before the
public. The Bitters also promotea
regular habit of body and give a
healthful stimulus to the urinary
organs.
