For City Recorder.
We are authorized to announce John O.
patt rson as a candidate for City Record-
er of Texarkana Arkansas subject to
the action es the Democratic party. Elec-
tion in April.
The state penitentiary ot Arkan-
sas has only one woman convict —
Mrs. Fannie Adams sent up for
killing her husband. She is hired
out at 18 per month and is not in-
side the walls. This speaks well for
our women.
Alf and Bob Taylor the gifted
brothers of Tennessee who ran
against each other for Governor
one being a Republican the other a
Democrat are now on a lecturing
tour together. Their famous dou-
ble lecture is on “Dixie" and “Yan-
kee Doedie." They will do Little
Rock the present week.
Judge U. M. Rose the Arkansas
member of the National Democrat-
ic Committee cannot attend the
meeting which will be held in Wash-
ington D. C? on Thursday but be
has given his proxy to Congressman
Terry and it is safe to say that he
will cast his vote for St. Louis as
the place to hold the National Con-
vention. _■

A Good Thing
If trtade known is sure to make a
strong appeal to our citizens and
meet with corresponding apprecia-
tion. This is demonstrated by the
increasing demand for K'ine’s steam
baked bread.
St. Louis is said to be one of the
most moral towns in the universe
just at this time. All the Colonels
Judges ex-Governors Mayors ex-
Mayors ex-Congressmen and "ex’’
almost anything else have • been
sent to Washington to bribe the
Democratic National Committee to
hold their convention in St. Louis.
Col. Post Dispatch Jones is left to
take care of the city.
Col. Jones of the Post Dispatch is
made to explain something in the
newspaper business he does not
like to expose. For instance he
received a letter from Governor
Stone in which was used “touch
me up a little" It seems Jones did
not get this letter and of course
Stone did not get touched up and
was therefore not “touched" by
Jones. This is sad and very “touch-
ing" on both.
Christian Science anil Intldelism

A Mrs. McGuegan a Scientist
mind reader palmist and phreno-
logist was brought before the police
court charged with fortune telling
and was fined $lO. Bob Ingersoll
proposes to lecture there and a
howl is sent up. Those people must
be ’tolerable good stuff up there
when they take up a poor woman
and choke Ingersol off.

Jhas H Yaln'x “Greater Twelve
Temptation! "
Th.- most important attraction
ever offered hereabouts is. without
doubt Cha«. H. Yale's “Greater'
Twelve Temptations which is to
claim attention at Ohio's opera
house for Thursday Jan- 16th. This
is decidedly the greatest spectacle'
on the face of the earth having j
cost the large sum id $25600 to put
on the stage in it- present state i
novelty and sumptuousness. It is!
entirely new colossal in every res ■
pect and an absolute miracle of'
beauteoussceniceuviornment while
the hosts of splendid and dazzling
costumes afford a continuous feast
of harmonious color blending and
uniqueness of design. The piece
besides literally crowded with fun
of the most boisterous kind and 1
pantominic tricks which will raise
laughter long and loud.
There are hosts of beautiful bal-
lets and some grotesque and comical
ones calling for the services of the
largest and most efficient ballet
troupe in the United States led by [
the three greatest Ital'an pre-1
mieres Signoritas Chitten Bal-
desarre and Bassignano.
With the whole stage represent-
ing the Brooklyn side of the East
River the bridge the Fulton Ferry
and moving craft on the stream
the endless inarch of odd personages
across the bridge from New York at
night will be aptly described in a
great song by Mr. Yale called
“Over the Bridge" “All in a Row ’
and “Battery Park" are also quaint
descriptive songs from Mr. Yale's
fertile pen which will go with a
rush. x
