THE PRESS IS MIGHTY
► It Went for two Mexican Officiate
Scalps and Got Them.
► | The press of Mexico went after
i! Postmaster Genera) Gochlcoa and
! Postmaster Mantiel of the City of
’ j Mexico tor their short comings and
i! made it so hot for the Government
I holding them in power that they
! summarily dismissed. It is charged
I that the service was allowed to run
[ down and many irregularites had
[ crept into officials acts it is also
I stated and the papers are making
I it hot that the agent of the Wells
; I Fargo Express Company has been
tracking the official corruption of
I that country and he has now tied
Mexico.
AMUSEMENT
What the Little Rock Papers Say of
the "Twelve Temptations."
The fact that Yale’s “Greater
Twelve Temptations” drew large
audiences at the Capital Theatre
| yesterday afternoon and night
would seem to inddicate that Lit-
tle Rock theatre-goers are fond of
i spectacular shows. In the main
their expectations were realized in
the production seen by them.
I The scenery costumes proper-
! erties effects songs ballets and di-
alogues in the “Twelve Tempta-
tions” are adequate to satiate the
most inordinate appetite and
though there was at times a hitch
in the transformation scenes ev-
erything ran along as well as could
be expected on a one night’s stand.
■ The dramatic cast includes some of
the best talent seen here this sea-
son among whom may be mention-
Miss Mai Estelle as Hubert. Miss
Lida Dexter as Zero the snow
; 1 queen Miss Madge Torrance the
; sun queen and Gus Brono Jr. as
I Sonoro Apropo. The four Rosaries
I are wonderful acrobats.

WHAT IS IT!
Why is it impossible for any of
Mr. Cleveland’s admirers to point
to any act of his which has been
I beneficial to the country? Because
he has performed no such act.
Why does Mr. Cleveland propose
to improve the credit of the United
States by increasing our foreign
obligations? In the same way that
dishonest debtors borrow all they
' can before filing a petition in bank-
r iptcy.j
| Why does Mr. Cleveland think
' that the more debt that he can pile
; up on the United States the more
J credit the government will have?
; Because the only way to .test the
• credit of the government to the
■ utmost limit is to overwhelm the
■ people with debt.
II What is the difference between
: the man who procures fraudulent
; legislation to make money scarce
; and the man who plays a confidence
» game on his neighbor. The former
► robs every producer of wealth for
I the benefit of extortionists and
gold gamblers while the latter
I deprives a single individual of a
J trifling amount of his property. —
► The Silver Knight.
