Georgia's most eminent judges was
found dead iu his bed at a hotel in
Atlanta on the morning of the 14th
mat.
McKinley is the Republican we
will have to beat for President. He
is a weak man and we can swipe
him with any good man; yes or bad
one either for that matter.
Ah there Clarke! You did not
get the mid-winter fruit of the Se
bustian primaries. You will fare
just as badly elsewhere. See your
error ?nd come off the chase.
Kline'i Steam Bread
Is popular because it is good; and it
is good:—
Because we understand how to
make it so.
Because it is clean.
Because only the best ingredients
are used in its manufacture.
Because particular care is given
to the baking while every other de-
tail is carefully attended to.
It is labelled—“Kline's Steam
Bread”—Ask for It—insist on hav-
ing it. 2 4
A BIG SURPRISE.
To the Aapiranti for City Offices.
On or before April the third there
will be another ticket in the field
which will make some of the candi-
dates for office look up a little and
do some tall hustling this ticket
will be the only and proper one and
if the puclic are not wide a wake to
their cause sad disappointment
will prevail. We are not at liberty
to voice the subject further but
will say in conclusion that every
one knows the best and freshest
drugs and garden seed are handled
by Bin Williams & Sugar.
It is said that Pete Maher’s eyes
will nnt be in shape for Fitzsimmons
to decorate until the 21st. It is a
game of freeze out now at El Paso
between Dan Stuart and the
authorities.
David Bennet Hill is rehearsing a
speech the aim of which will be to
answer Tillman’s speech against
Cleveland Carlisle & Co. If Hill
don't want a roast he had better
leave Tillman alone.
A fool fellow who wished to make
a reputation so he could make an
engagement with a museum in
New York appeared in Central
Park with only his pants on. He
had an immense crowd about him
when he was arrested.

Warwick Clark is again in the
saddle riding night and day trying
to disrupt the Texas Democracy.
He will not have the railroadmen
to back him up in this as he did two
years ago and his minions are con-
siderably diminished and growing
beautifully less.
Arkansas Congressmen are get-
ting iu their work in Congress on
the eve of the election. Congress-
man Little has engineered a bill
through granting a railroad the
right to cross the Indian Nation
and Congressman McCullough has
received permission to bridge St.
Francis Lake in Craighead county.
Nothing like an electien to stir up
the Congressmen.
"FRIENDS.”
For a new play by a young un-
known author to score an immediate
success in New York City is one ot
the rare events of a decade* yet
this is exactly what happened in
the case of Edwin Milton Royle’s
comedy-drama ‘‘Friends.” “Friends”
was Mr. Mr. Royle’s first play and it
trad its first production at the
Standard Theatre New York about
three years ago. Presenting a novel
and fascinating theme treated in
a fresh and unconventional way the
play created an instant sensation
and ran through a season of many
weeks to crowded and enthusiastic
audiences. Since then it has been
played in all the chief cities of the
country and has met everywhere
the same favorable reception. In
fact no play of recent years has
come to us heralded by stronger
newspaper endorsements from all
parts of the country. From New
York to San Francisco and from
Chicago to New Orleans the press
unites in pronouncing it to one of
the brightest and most altogether
charming of American plays so it
is safe to promise our theatre goers
a dramatic treat on the occasion of
it* approaching visit.
The scene of the play is located in
that Bohemia of poets and artists
that centres about the Metropolitan
Opera House ot New York City and
a prima donna of the opera a young
pianist and a young poet both in
love with the singer; a director of
the Opera House and a New Yorn
broker are among the characters
that go to make up the stage
picture of love and jealously and
comedy and strife. Saturday Feb.
22nd “Friends" will be seen here
for the first time. The principals
of the New York cast are with the
company now presenting “Friends.”
Great Oaks From Little Acorns Grown
Is a line we used to recite from the
old verse in our school boy days. It
ha* a forcible application to those
small ailments which we are too
apt to disregard until they reach
formidable proportions. A fit of
indigestion a “slight” attack of
constipation it is assumed will
soon pass off but it is very apt to
get worse and in the meantime is
neglected until the ailment be-
comes chronic and then if not en-
tirely eradicated is a constant an-
noyance and menace of worse con
sequences for diseases recollect
beget one another. How much wis-
er to resort to a course of Hostet-
ter's Stomach Bitters at the outset
than to temporize with it at the
start or treat it with violent rem-
edies in its maturity. Be on time
with disease or it may “floor” you
Malarious rheumatic and kidney
complaints dyspepsia constipation
biliousness and nervousness are all
disorders of rapid growth and
should be “nipped in the bud” by a
timely resort to the Bitters.
Salvation Army.
The reporter glanced in at the
Salvation Array last night at their
barrack* and found that every seat
was taken and standing room was
not even to be had. What makes
these services popular every one
that will may get up and testify
how wicked he used to be and how
now that he is freed from sin he
feels like a different individual alto-
gether. We recognized several of
our citizens on the stage giving the
•mail array here help. We believe
the movement in this city is for
keeping the Salvation Army here
and recruiting from citizens. We
learn the collection at each service
never run under 15.00 and with this
and the money pledged the army-
can live comfortable and do much
good here in visiting those who
never see inside of a church door.
Sam Ragland has the genuine
merschaum pipe. A guaranty goes

material.

Gladness Comes
With a better understanding of the
transient nature of the many phys-
ical ills which vanish before proper ef-
fort*—gentle efforts—pleasant efforts—-
rightly directed. There is comfort in
the knowledge that so many forms of
sickness are not due to any actual dis-
ease but simply to a constipated condi-
tion of the system which the pleasant
family laxative Syrup of Figs prompt-
ly removes. That is why it is the only
remedy with millions of families and is
everywhere esteemed so highly by all
who value good health. Its beneficial
effects are due to the fact that it is the
one remedy which promotes internal
cleanliness without debilitating the
organs on whichitncts. Itis therefore
ail important in order to get its bene-
ficial effects to note when you pur-
chase that you have the genuine article
which is manufactured by the California
Fig Syrup Co. only and sold by all rep-
utable druggists.
If in the enjoyment of good health
and the system is regular then laxa-
tives or other remedies are not needed.
If afflicted with any actual disease one
may be commended to the most skillful
physicians but if in need of a laxative
then one should have the best and with
the well-informed everywhere. Syrup of
Figs stands highest and is most largely
used and gives most general satisfaction.
