I Dan Caffrey United States Sen-
ator of Louisiana made a talk at

swallow a word he said. They
should ask Dan to resign as he is
now misrepresenting the state in-
stead of representing it.
The chief of police of Chicago
i will not give the Democrats per
mission to parade on the 31st tie-
cause he says he has given the Re
publicans permission for the same
night. The Democrats tell him they
expect to parade anyhow and this
means that a double parade will
take place in the Windy City. We
bet the Democrats will be heard
from too if the thing don’t go off
to suit them.
Those Republicans in New York
who started out to bet 4 to 1 on
McKinley have been taking in their
horns gradually and now the book
makers are made sore to even put
up 1.25 to 1 on the result of the
State. There is more democratic
money in New York to bet on the
State going Democratic than was
ever dished out before. We are
betting on Tammaay strong in car-
rying New York.
In the House on May 7 1890 Mr.
McKinley made a speech in which
he used the following language:
“When merchandise is the cheap-
est men are the poorest and the
most depressing experience in the
history of our country—aye in all
human history—have been when
everything was the lowest and
cheapest measured by gold for
everything was then the highest
and dearest measured by labor.”

ters the most popular as it is the
best of preventives alteratives and
tonics. In numberless localities
where the demand tor sulphate of
quine was formerly immense the
hurtful alkaloid has been almost en-
tirely supplanted by this safe pop-
ular and effective substitute which
is prompt in action and entirely un-
objectionable. It nullifies the influ-
ence of miasma by giving a more
active impulse to every vital func
tion quickening and enriching the
blood overcoming a tendency to bil-
