THE PARK ALIVE WITH PEOPLE.
The Amazons Put Up a Nice Exhibi-
tion Drill Base Ball Etc.
Yesterday was Texarkana Rille
day at the park.
The program was thrown to Ihe
breeze which promised much Io the
day's enjoyment to those who could
put aside business cares and spend
the day in search of amusement.
The forenoon was passed in ram-
bles about tlie park and watching
the ladles drill. In the afternoon
tlie Little Rock and Texarkana
base ball teams played In the third
game of a series of three games.
The game was watched with much
interest and many half dollar bets
were placed on each baserunner
betting he would or would not be
able to reach second third or home
plate this kept up the Interest In
tlie game to those who were put
ting up their good money. Texar-
kana had strengthened their I am
by the addition of three new play
ers but this did not make any ma
teiial difference t.> Edwards' Little
Rock sluggers for they won the
game In easy form. Score stood
l.'l Io 5 In favor of Little Rock.
Aller the game the Rilles divided
up one side marching to the west
side of the base ball park theolher
half stationing themselves opposite
and a sham battle was fought
which was quite amusing to all
After this the Amazons marched
on the dancing plat form and was
put through a drill They did well
and after 30 minutes of hard drill*
Ing were marched oil' the floor anil
I he dancing commenced.
We were asked tn state as the
reason the bicycle races were not
run as advertised was mi account
ol not having a sanction from the
L. A. W. Captain Kane. Io whom
the business of the races were en-
trusted left the city a few days
ago and failed to write for the same
before he left he ice no sanction no
races
The medal which was to have
been presented to the best drilled
Amazon did not show up ami the
prize drill was not had Why we
have not been advised
The Rilles old not make their
charge on the Indians supposed to
be on the Island ami In reconnoiter
Ing we found an Aim rlciin eagle
perched on a snag at tlm head ol
the Island with n small American
flag In one claw and one of Huddle l
ston Urolhcr's llnesl slrhign of Im*
lona sausage In the id her. We
knew the Indians had evacuiited
and as there were no red men to
light the company was not expect
ed Io charge an Imaginary enemy.
The day and evening was well mi
joyed by all In attendance
