der will give one of her unique en-

December 29 assisted by the Glee
Club for the benefit of the First
Baptist church.
The weather opened up warm
this morning and we feel thankful
as our wood pile looks as though it
was teady to go into the hands of a
receiver.
It is estimated by knowing ones
that at least 3000 bales of cotton
within a trading radius of this city
is still unpicked in the fields and yet
to be marketed.
We have had a great deal of wind
today and dust filled the air at all
times Several awnings got the
worst of wear and many tin signs
were blown from their places.
Miss Lucy Morton of Richmond
Virginia a niece of Hon. Paul
Joues is visiting Mr. Jones and his
lady at Bello Maison. Miss Morton is
an accomplished musician and will
add much to the pleasures of so-
ciety while here.
Miss George Meek formerly of
Hope but new living with a sister
in this city was married yesterday
at Gurdon to a Mr. Mclntyre.
The couple returned here this
morning.
There is a lot of capitalists look-
ing over the Antimony fields of Ar-
kansas with prospects of opening
the mines. Some of our citizens
here own town lots at Antimony
City near Nashville and they
would be glad to hear of the mines
being worked again.

Mr. Charles Reeves shipped a
coffin to Forest Cass county Texas
this morning for the burial of Mr.
W. S. Kenedy who died there yes-
terday. The deceased had a broth-
er clerking for Mr. Joe Winter and
he went down to attend the funeral.
Miss Susie Story has been en-
gaged by the telephone exchange
and will assist the office force al-
ready at work. The exchange is
growing fast aud it requires four or
five operators to keep up with the
calls.
Mr. Walker an express messen-
ger running out of here on the T-p
and Miss Florence Blythe were
married today at the residence of
Capt. A. S. Blythe. The couple
will go to house keeping at the Dr.
Skeen residence on Elm street.

and bales of cotton and is still gin-
ning. Cotton l ginned there is
thoroughly cleaned and easily

cents per pound more on the mar-
