Mrs. Richard Williams of Green-

There was a commotion of some
kind in the peanut roast at the
show last night but we had three
policemen there besides the park
officer and two or three beys were
led out and given an airing.
Bev. A. W. Wilson of Dodd City
Texas will conduct services at the
First Presbyterian church on
.Maple street this evening at 7:30
o'clock. Every one is cordially in-
vited to attend.
Rev. J. K. Lloyd who has been
here since Sunday left for Paris
Texas today. He tells us he re-
ceived his muster out papers yes-
terday by post and will not return
to Fort Clark as he had anticipated
doing.
If this weather continues several
days longer Mr. Peach will put on
his red cap and show his head if he
| has not been killed by the cold
winter. We have been told by sev-
eral that the crop will be a failure
this year.
The Signal of Liberty company is
all right. They have good scenery
and put it on the stage and don’t
give it to us in promises like some
of the troupes that have played
here. Again tonight at tentwenty
and thirty cents.
Collector J. H. Arnold of im-
provement District Ne. 1 informs
us that people are about done pay-
ing up for this year and there will
be few delinquents. Taxes receiv-
ed this time will about finish paying
for our sewerage system.not count-
ing the additional outlet which
will yet have to be provided.
We would urge upon our city
father the importance of instruct-
ing all es our police to be on the
alert lest loafing negroes or tramps
bring smallpox to our city—these
characters should be made to give
Texarkana a wide berth make

A Pte Gee train on the south di-
vision .had one o f the cars in the
train to jump the track and break
its coup ing and piunge down an
embankment on Sunday. The car
was loaded with lumber and tramps
who were beating their way over
the road. Howard Nash of Arka-
delphia was killed. T. J Davis V.
T. Nelson and H O’Neal all of
Louisiana were injured.

they all expressing a disbelief of
the statement. We have the pic-
ture as sent in by Mrs. Crow and
her statement that such was the
case and we believe every word of
it. We shall look Mr. John O'Neal
up and get his statement of the
facts.
We learn that the warship
“Abaranda” on which George Web-
ber is in complete charge of its
machinery as chief engineer has
been ordered to Samoa and will go
through Cape Horn and from Sa-
moa will go to Manila. This wifi
take six long months to make the
trip. The best wishes of the Tex-
aikanian shall follow our friend
Webber across the foaming ex-
panse of water.
