Lodge has out a committee to se-

Editor J. W. Gardner went over
to Winthrop today and when the
telephone bell summoned the city
editor to the phone and he found
that we was talking to the editor
over a little wire through a wild
country he knew it passes and at
the distance of a half hundred miles
he could hardly believe it yet such
was the case. The editor said “I
have transacted the business I
came here for and will be back on
the three o'clock train.”
Mr. Owens a gentleman who at
- tended the entertainment last night
' got his arm broken by offering his
[ service to one of the drivers of the
' street car. The team It seems
i made a plunge and one «f the mules
went through the harnes and collar
or at least he broke out of the har-
ness and the driver could nor han-
dle him by himself and Mr. Owens
went to his assistance and while
' holding him the mule reared up
and plunged forward knocking Mr.
Owens down. He d s.mvered that
his arm was broke before he got to
. the city. He was on the itreet to
day with the member In a sling.

terly conference of the State Line
Methodist church it was decided
that a new church building was
needed and the following building
committee was appointed: E. W.
Frost H. N. McLain F. M Henry
J. F. Jones Dr. R. H. T. Mann R.

move was not taken any too soon.
Methodists certainly need a good

Rev. Neil of the Olive street Bap
tist church opened a protracted
meeting at the Sunset school house
last night to a good congregation
who manifested much interest in
the work just begun. The meet-
ing will continue during the weik
and longer should there be any
prospect of good results growing
out of the same. Every one invi-
ted who has the good of the world
at heart and who wish to help his
fellow man to lead a better life.

back form Chicago where he went
