That no one remedy can contain the
element* necessery to cure all diseas-
es is a fact well known to everyone.
Dr. Miles' System of Restorative Remedies
consists of seven distinctively different
preparations each for Its own purpose.
Mrs. L C. Brantley 37 Henry Bt St. Cath-
erines Ontario writes: "For years I suf-
fered from extreme nervousness r nd annoy-
ing constipation developing into palpitation
and weakness of the heart. I was unable to
sleep suffered much from headache pain in
my left side palpitation and a constant
feeling of weakness and prostration 1 began
using Dr. Miles' Nervine Heart Cure and
Nerve and Liver Fills and the Anil-Pain
Pills to relieve suddeu paroxysr s of pain
and headache. I soon felt much improves
and the pains and aches and weariness left
me I then took Dr. Miles' Restorative
Tonic and am now restored to my ."rtner

A masher in Hot Springs got his
nose mashed a few days ago while
trying t« make a mash on a young

masher is a good thing to mash and
we say go ahead with the mashing.
Pfeffer of Kansas who has posed
as everything under the sun in a
political way has gone over to the
republican party and carried his
whiskers along with him. The re-
publicans are welcome to all such
converts.
A Kansas school teacher has
been dismissed for hypnotizing his

The Arkansas Supreme Court is
at work trying to figure out what
there is in Jeff Davis' brief he has
had printed in trying to substanti-
ate his ruling in the anti-trust ca-
ses he has filed against insurance
companies and it is thought that a
ruling will be made on Saturday.
There is scarcely a citizen and
tax.payer in the city who does not
come in contact with a trust every
day in the week. The bootblacks
all have a uniform or trust agree-
ment the barbers have the same
for a shave or hair cut the saloons
are in a trust likewise the butcher
shops the drug stores the doctors
the grocers the banks the lumber
manufacturers iufact the whole
political and commercial basis of
this government sift it as you will
and you find a trust by stipulated
prices and agreements. The laws
themselves are sold at trusts prices
and the officers serve papers and
dish out blanks at prices made by
the legislature. If we are going to
down trusts to make it effect lye we
will have to pull the pillars of the
government down and re-organize
the whole system.
The Attorney General has asso
elated with him in the prosecution
•f the trusts the Hon Hal Norwood
and Jesse Hart.—Arkansas Demo
crat.
In connection with the above we
learn from a member of the general
assembly that the legislature ap-
propriated 15000 to pay some at
torney of state-wide reputation and
known ability to help the Attorney
General with the case -in fact they
exacted a promise of this kind from
him and he intimated that it was
his desire to employ Ex-Governor
James P. Clarke to help him in the
case but it seems that he could hire
two lawyers at the price of one and
went In on numbers instead of rep-
utation and hired two who are not
known of being possessed of any
great legal ability outside of the
little villages they live in. Mr. Da-
vis can explaiu the why and the
wherefore be employed these attor
neys when the legislature had an
understanding with him that he
was to hire others of recognized
standing In law.

Loaded Torpedo Comes Ashore.
A loaded torpedo recently came
ashore which had been floating
about no one knew how long a
menace to all craft. Many disease
germs quite as deadly are floating
about at this season of the year
thirsting for the weak spot in lungs
or stomach. The best thing to do
is to fortify yourself against them
by keeping the bowels regular the
stomach sweet and the blood pure.
Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters will do
this more effectually than anything
else. It has been the standard rem-

active kidneys and is also a sure
cure for malaria and fever and

AT THE AUDITORIUM.
A Mimic Murder Justified By the
Reporter
Tne reporter was out at the play
last sight at the Auditorium to
hear and see the Haniin company
play the “Master and Man." In
act first the play was “knocked
down" by the actor taking the part
of the father of the heroine of the
play (pardon us for not giving
names as no programs were furn
ished) by mumbling his words in so
an inaudible manner that only half
meanliness of what he was saying
landed on the ears of the audience.
It was during this act that the vil
lain of the plot got in his woik on
the old man and killed him and we
applauded the murder for we rec-
ognized the cast had been relieved
of one of its “burdensln act
second however we recognize the
same old gentleman with a differ-
ent s ait upon his back reinforced
with a silk hat sailing in an entire
different character and playing the
father to another heroine. We
must say he improved some in act-
ing and we caught the lines better
and followed him with more inter-
est throughout the play. The best
character in the piece went to
pieces in the third act by losing his
cue and had to repeat a sentence
just out of his mouth to find out
just “where he was at" and this
caused a titter to run over the
house which knocked all the ro-
mance out of the whole play.
We are free to say that the play
was poorly given and just what
adverse’circumstances caused the
company to put the piece on the
boards in so an unacceptable man-
ner we know not for we recognize
in the company people who have
stage ability and are capable of
presenting plays in a more accept
able manner.
Tonight the company will put on
the boards Little Miss Frisco one
of their best pieces and they have
placed the parts in the best cast
they have.
The juggling last night was fairly
performed.
The promised animated pictures
and illustrated songs were not
given the professor who manipu-
lates the apparatus explained to
the reporter that he could not get
a light intense enough for the pict-
. ures although he labored hard i«
trying to use the acetyline gas
i burner in his apparatus.
' The company will fill the dates
for the balance of the week and we
hope they will infuse more vim and
I life in the plays they produce from
now on.

LINCOLN S BEST STYLE.
It is difficult to find a better style
i of expression and reasoning than
that of Abraham Lincoln. It
was simple at times to homliness.
so was that of Benjamin Franklin
indeed; but the manner in which
Lincoln presented an argument was
exquisitly satisfactory and conclu-
sive. A letter of his in which he
turned upon one who had objected
to his war policy has been brought
before the public by one of our ex
changes. Without regard to the
merits bi the case of which it treat-
ed it may be read with rare enjoy-
ment for the manner in which it re-
vives recolections of this remarks-
ble man. He says to his corre-
spondent:
“You think I could have doue bet-
ter; therefore you blame me alrea-
dy. I think I could not do better;
therefore 1 blame you for blaming
me’ 1 understand you now to be
willing to accept the help of men
who are not republicans provided
they have ‘heart in it.' Agreed I
no others. But who is to be the
judge of hearts or of ‘heart in it?'
If 1 must discard my own judgement
and take yours I must also take
that of others and by the time 1
should reject all I should be advised
to reject 1 should have none left
republicans or others—not even
yourself. For be assured my dear
sir there are men who have ‘heart
in it' that think you aie performing
your part as pooily as you think I
am performing mine.”—Boston

N Modesty is the crowning virtue of American women it is the trait N
CO that all mankind admires. A modest woman is the most pieasing of all
M created things. Because of this becoming virtue thousands of women
Lt prefer to suffer untold miseries rather than contide their troubles to a
■S physician and to even think of submitting to an examination is revolt;
inv. Thev can’t get their own consent to an operation. Wineotcaraui

railroads. He also signed the bill
consolidating the Gulf Beaumont

One reason women can have so
many griefs is that they get over
them so quickly.
a Word
to Doctors
We have the highest regard for the
medical profession. Our preparations
are not sold for the purpose of am agon-
izing them but rather as an aid. We
lay it down as an established truth that
internal remedies are positively injuri-
ous to expectant mothers. The distress
and discomforts experienced during the
months preceding childbirth can be al-
leviated only by external treatment--by
applying a liniment that softens and re-
laxes the over-strained muscles. We
make and sell such a liniment com-
bining the ingredients in a manner
hitherto unknown and call it
Mother’s Friend
We know that in thousands of cases
it has proved more than a blessing to
expectant mothers. It overcomes morn-
ing sickness. It relieves the scuse of
tightness. Headaches cease and dan-
ger from Swollen Hard and Rising
Breasts is avoided. Labor itself is
shortened and shorn of most of the pain.
We know that many doctors recom-
mend it and we know that multitudes
of women go to the drug stores and buy
it because they arc sure their physicians
have no objections. We ask a trial-
just a fair test. There is no possible
chance of injury being the result be-
cause Mother’s Friend is scientific-
ally compounded. It is sold at $i a bot-
tle. and should be used during tm . t of.
the period of gestation although great
relief is experienced if used only a short
time before childbirth. Send for our il-
lustrated book about Mother's Friend.
