Prospectors are coming in here
daily looking for locations —many
of them after timber lands. We
saw one gentleman yesterday who
was looking for government land
to locate on.
The west side council at their
meeting tonight should open elev-
enth street to the western bounda-
ry of the city. There will be a pe-
tion presented to this effect and it
should not be ignored.
Texarkana should combine and
get up for next year a re-union of
old soldiers from the several com-
mands scattered around here. It
would draw thousands of dollars
and many visitors to the city.
We are awaiting the sound of
the saw and hammer on the new
promised theater building also the
rumbling of wagons hauling gravel
in the improvement district prom-
ised us some time ago. Why are
we kept in waiting ?

and found many heavy oak timbers
there besides yellow pine lumber
which will be used In the erection
of the hardwood mid. Those gen
tiemen who form the Penn Hard-
wood company mean business and
they expect Io rush work on this
plant until it is completed and run
ning.
A letter from Q. (>. Turner says
that he has a boarding house at the
foot of Pike's Peak and that he can
sit in his room and look upon snow
capped mountains at all times. We
would like for him to send us down
a couple dozen of those mountains
to be distributed in and around our
village. We would then have a
slimmer res irl out of sight.
