Yesterday afternoon officers
brought in from Red River town-
ship a uegro by the name of Tory
Stafford charged with the offense
of assault with intent to kill anoth-
er negro Eli Thomas on Monday.
Negro was placed in the Miller
county jail to await the action of
the next grand jury. We learn
from Sheriff Bickham that the
wounded negro Thomas is not
likely to recover in which event
charge of murder will no doubt be
entered against Stafford.
Messrs. /Hardin Brother's at
their second hand store have suc-
ceeded in tilling the store full of ev-
erything useful in house keeping.
We went through the stock andean

couple of colored men in which to
run a saloon. Walker would not
vacate claiming a verbal lease un-
til January Ist 1960. Lawyers P.

represented the colored men and
Horace Vaughn Walker. The jury
found for Walker.
