ACCIDENTAL DEATH.
Little Miss Laura Lipari fell
from a tree yesterday in the west-
ern suburbs of the. city sustaining
injuries from which she died last
night.
it seems a half dozen little girls
gathered at the Lipari home yes-
terday afternoon and all went to
the woods back of the park to
gather nuts and flowers. Coming
upon a persimmon tree loaded with
fruit they stopped and some of the
little girls climbed the tree four in
number and while picking off the
fruit Little Laura lost her balance
and fell out of the tree ou her
face and arms. The children saw
she was badly hurt and they were
thrown into consternation and sent
up a scream which brought older
people to the >uene.
It was found that the child had
both arms broken at the wrist and
the shoulder bone broken and the
nose terribly flattened by the fall.
She was picked up and carried to a
house near by and her father and
mother apprised of the facts. They
were soon by her side and had her
removed to their home and a doc-
tor summoned.
All was done for the child that
human agency could suggest but
death had set its seal upon her and
at 1115 o’clock last night the light
of life departed from the body
leaving a grief stricken father and
mother sister and brothers cast
down in grief. The whole commun-
ity sympathizes with the family in
their loss of the loved one.
Saloon Men In Trouble.
We learn from pavement tain that
the saloon men had agreed to keep
their saloons closed on the Sabbath
and if such an agreement had been
reached it was broken yesterday
or the three warrants issued out of
the mayor’s court for Dan Galla-
cher Mike Lipsey and Louis Long-
notti are libels upon these men
for they are charged with the
offense of selling whiskey ou the
Sabbath.
In connection with these arrests#
two negro njen were arrested sot 1
retailing whiskey by the pint in the
alleys. There is one way to stop
Sabbath desecration and that is to
fine the men the limit. We shall
see what kind of fine mayor Hardin
will put on these men and we can
judge then whether he intends to
play a friendly game of tag or use
the law as it was intended as a
means to stop crime and not to set
a price on the same that men can
commit it and make a profit by so
doing. The. people have an eye on
you mayor do your duty.
Uff For Boston.
This morning the union depot was
filled with lawyers aud litigants
who were prepared to spend the
day at the capital of Bowie county.
District court convenes there today
and be in session for five weeks.
We interviewed several litigants
and they were all of cue mind and
that was they had rather go to any
other place on the face of the
earth to court than at Boston.
We learned that very few civil
cases were liable to consume the
attention of the court but that a
heavy criminal docket was await-
ing the action of the grand jury
also several cases that the trrand
jury had previously found true bills.
If you miss any one from town this
week you can say he is more than
likly to be at Boston.
The Minstrel Show.
The Capital Theatre at Little
Rock was opened ou Friday night
with RichardsA Pringle's Minstrels
The Democrat says of the show:
The Capital'Theatre season open-
ed up last night with Richards A
Pringle’s an all-negro minstrel
show. Manager Robt. 8. Hamilton
the first Little Rock man to have
exclusive control of the theatre in
many years was delighted with the
auspicious opening. Every seat in
the house was taken and standing
room was at a premium. The gal-
lery and balcony were set apart for
the colored people aud both were
filled to overflowing. The theatre
was as bright as a new pin after its
renovation and Manager Hamilton
was the recipient of many congrat-
ulations upon his enterprise. The
show was all that could be desired
and gAve the greatest satisfaction.
The jokes were fresh aud the spec-
tacles very fine. Billy Kersands and
his mouth were there and as usual
provoked roars of laughter and
merriment.
