BEAUTIFUL NEW GOODS.
Yesterday we walked into- the
Schuster jewelry establishment
and was agreeably surprised at see
ing a large stock of n w goods just
received from New York and other
markets. Among the many pretty
things we noticed were all sorts of
silver ware in sterling silver and
plated—sterling silver tea and ta-
ble spoons and cups berry
spoons sugar spoons toilet sets etc.
In best plated goods were berry
bowls cake stands butter stands
carving sets and a large line of Wm.
Rogers knives forks and spoons of
the celebrated Eagle brand and
various other nice articles too num-
erous to mention. In jewelry this
old reliable firm is also receiving a
nice line of new goods. Those need-
ing anything in above named lines
will do well to call and see Schuster
—everything of the best in the
way of goods suitable for wedding
presents. Go and see.
Catarrh Cannot be Cured
with local applicatio s as they cannot
reach the seat of the disease. Catarrh is
a blood or constitutional disease and in
order to cure it you must take internal
remedies. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is taken
internally and acts directly on the blood
and mucous surfaces. Hall’s catarrh Cure
i-not a quack medicine. It s prescribed
by one of the best vhvsicians in this c mn-

is composed of the best tonics known
combined with the best blood pur tiers

Senator Berry of Arkansas a
Democrat and Senator Hoar ot
Massachusetts a Republican think
the war in the Pbillipines is the
most cruel war ever waged. Sena-
tor Berry is too good a man to be
driven by what he thinks is public
sentiment into such a false position
He can be elected senator anyway
and in sidetracking free-silver ano
anti-trustism in favor of anti-imp--
rialism be is showing bow weak and
untrustworthy the Democratic par
ty has become under the leadership
o' the leaders of today.—Helena
World.
As usual our gaseous contempo-
rary mixes a lot of error with a
truth. Os course Senator Berry
“can be elect d anyway” but be i-
not sidetracking free silver and
anti trustism in favor of anti-impe-
rialism as stated by the World.
Senator Berry has made several
speeches of late and they have
been reported in condensed form in
the papers and in every speech hat-
advocated the very issues the
World so flippantly charges him
with side’racking. Say brothr
why not.-tick to the truth? Is it
utterly impossible for a goldbug to
be truthful? And we want to say
before closing that the Democracy
is not “weak and untrustworthy’
under present leaders.

Compliments a Worthy Officer
The Arkansas Gazette the lead-
ing morning daily of our state cap-
ital pays this deserving compli-
ment to our worth-’ sheriff:
Sheriff Bickham of Miller county
is an officer who posesses grit and
determination. His courageous de
fiance of the mob that demanded
an imprisond murderer for the pur-
pose of a lynching prevented the
plans of the mob being carried out
and cheated the truly pious people
of New England out of another
opportunity to point the finger of
reproach at “benighted Arkansas”.
In this particular case the crime
was an atrocious one. The negro
shot and simultaneously killed the
planter’s little daughter whom he
was holding in his arms. The raur
derer was seized by half a dozen
negroes and hurried to Texarkana
and placed in jail. Indignation in
he vicinity of the crime ran Ijigh
and a mob was formed to go’ to
Texarkanna and secure the negro.
Sheriff Bickham stood in the wav;
there was no lynching and the law
will be enforc- d. Speedy justice is
demanded and will we confidently
believe be forthcoming at the
hands of the courts and juries in
Miller county.

Dewey has not made up his mind
just yet whether he is a presiden-

of the hour and when the show is
over of which he is being made the
grand “guy-I shoot-’em;” he will re-
tire to private life on half pay and
live in ease and affluence and no
one will begrudge him of this but
if in an evil moment he allows the
politician to work him into offering
tor the presidency he will lesson
the love the people have for him
and historians will write this down
against him as one of the mistakes
he has made in life.
