The street car drivers report a
gang of rowdy boys who jump their
cars on Maple street near the West
side school house and give them
trouble. The officers should try and
break this gang up for they not
only annoy the car drivers but the
passengers. Rowdyism should be a
thing frowned down on even amongst
the boys.

We met Mr. Pentecost of Wino-
na Miss. yesterdiy. He said his
little town in Mississippi was not
the 20th part as large as Texark-
ana but the citizens there have
subscribed $85000 for a cotton fac-
tory and will raise $15000 more.
He said it looks from the people on
the streets in your town that you
could raise enough money here in
two days to build a factory. We
agreed with him but thought that
it would be a harder matter to
work up an interest in a factory of
this sort than the old gentleman
imagined.
The Hurons are having
b lilt three good sized houses on
their lots on the corner of 4th and
Spruce streets. The frame work is
up and the shingles are being placed

“Lord” Scroggins of the T. S. &
N. road came in sick yesterday and
will not pull the throttle on a loco-
motive for two or three days but in
lieu will practice on a “cork" in a
medicine bottle. We trust the
Lord will be all right in a day or
two.
Another exciting incident iu the
city yesterday happening after the
post incident. A horseless wagon
run away with a pair of mules.
Nothing was hurt except the mud
which was split wide open on Broad
street.
About the most exciting thing
that transpired in this city yester-
day was a horse pulling a post
down i* front of Hoffman’s hard-
ware store. The cheap prices hung
out in the windows was the cause
of the horse getting excited it is
thought.
