Talking with I. M. Stowers,, who
lives at Lake Merritt, one day, he
assured me that Lake Merritt
really is dry. The lake area had
one and .one half inches of rain last
week. It was not enough to put
any water in the lake, but enough
to help the hot, dry, dusty
weather.
Mrs. Vesta McCormick has
returned after visiting several
weeks in Kermit with her brother,
Hollis Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. Oran
Coor had also been visiting with
Hollis and brought Vesta home.
Mrs. Dink Wheeler of Rankin
spent several days with our sister,
Mrs. Elsie Weatherby, in Goldth-
waite. They went to Dublin Sunday
to visit our brother and his wife.
Dink also visited with our aunt,
Lucy Wilson, and ate lunch with
me on Monday before returning to
Rankin. Also, Gussie Plummer
came by for a while on Monday.
Visitors with Mrs. Margaret
Toliver were Mr. and Mrs. Green
Buchanan, Mmes. Neoma Oben-
haus, Quita Grierson and Nell
Holland. Miss Anita Eubank of San
Antonio spent the weekend with
Mrs. Toliver.
