COWGIRLS...
In the early months of 1836 General Sam Houston,
commander of the Republic of Texas Army sent out a call
for men to fight Santa Anna’s invading army. A group of
German-Texans from Cat Springs, in present-day Austin
County, responded to the call. To protect the
community’s cattle from the invading Mexicans, women
of the area became cowgirls. They mounted horses and
drove the cattle to Louisiana until the war ended.

Everyone knows that February
14th is Valentine’s Day and we are
supposed to buy our “Special
someone” something to show how
much we love, them. There will be
flowers and candy given by the
front. Then what would we do
about all those people who wanted
to do something, anything, it
doesn’t matter-just something:
What would we do with all those
volunteers? It would also cause a
problem with people wanting to
visit every week and praying for
OTHERS instead of ourselves.

those cards with the hearts all over
them and the baby angel with the
bow and arrow poised to “let you "
have it”. This is not just any
arrow mind you, it is “The Arrow
of LOVE”, which is guaranteed to
make you more loving to your
beloved one.
We all know that this is not the
way things work in the “real
world”. Things would be a lot
easier for God if all he had to do
was to dispatch baby angels with
“The Arrow of Love”. My, just
think of the problems it would
cause at churches across the
country. I can see it now, people
hurrying so they can get to church
early to get a good seat near the

You can see what a mess it would
be if God used “The Arrow of

God did give us the Gift of Love, .

know, if we were to use this gift
as God had intended we could be 9
experiencing those very problems
I’ve listed above. The truth is we-
can experience God’s Gift of Love
in our lives if we ask God to come
into our hearts and make us the
people He wants us to be.
