Star family moved into their new
home this past week. James and
Diane Clary, after weeks of
planning and work, got moved into
their new home. We are sure they
will enjoy it for a long time and
we’re happy for them in this
achievement.

After midnight Tuesday, July 5,

Mr. and Mrs. 0. W. Carothers
of Crane, are visiting in the N. L.
Verser home at Pleasant Grove.
They expect to spend several
weeks on their ranch in Mavrick
Valley before returning to Crane
this fall. Mr. Carothers is a
teacher of manuel training and
Mrs. Carothers is a commercial
yard floor.
Whistles were
presented to the small “frys”.
The three silver Happy Birthday
baloons floated above the wind
mill.
The Birthday Cakes were cut by
Mrs. West and served to each
guest along with their favorite
drink.
Brad opened his cards and many
gifts and passed them around.
They consisted of monies shirts,
tapes, electric shower, candy and a
gold neck chain.
While the laughter and drinking
was at its highest point, in walked
a 1900 dressed detective with her
gun. Hey! What’s this? She
soon learned that it was not a beer
party but Brad’s 30th birthday
party so she joined in the fun and
fellowship.
Brad thanked each person for his
money and many useful gifts.
Then the group sang Happy
Birthday to Brad and many more,
more.
One outstanding picture that was
taken was of six first cousins and
the oldest person present was Aunt
Effie Wigley of Goldthwaite and
the youngest person who travelled
the longest distance was a second
cousin Emily Heyman of Blanc-
hard, La. She is 5 months old.
Also interesting about the 30th
was a black white and red sign in
Brad’s yard that said Honk- Brad’s
30. It attracted many people who
honked as they went by.

Clara Swindle, 77
Clara Augusta Swindle, 77, of
Goldthwaite, Texas passed away
Tuesday, July 14, 1987 at
Childress General Hospital.
She was born September 9, 1909
in Hamilton County, Texas. Her
parents were E. A. Marwitz and
Emma Reinert Marwitz.
On November 11, 1930 she
married William Newman Swindle
at Pottsville, Texas. He preceded
her in death on September 30,
1984.
She was a member of the
Baptist church.
Survivors include one son, Hilton
Swindle of Tow, Texas; one
daughter, Melba Jones of Throck-
morton, Texas; seven grand-
children; and seven great grand-
children. Also two brothers, Henry
Marwitz of Crawford, Texas and
Willie Marwitz of Priddy, Texas,
and four sisters, Annie Roberts,
Pauline Hopper and Edna Hopper
all of Indian Gap, Texas and
Alvine Swindle of Austin, Texas.
The funeral was held Thursday,
July 16, 1987 at 10:00 a.m. from
the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home’
Chapel. Rev. Doug Holtzclaw
officiated at the service. Burial was
in the Indian Gap Cemetery, Mills
County, Texas.
Pallbearers were Deryel W.
Ledbetter, Floyd L. Sheller, Morris
Jones, Charles N. Jones, Spencer
Jones, Lee Hopper, Jr., and Mark
Hopper.
