BRECKENRIDGE, Nov. 30 —
Tears were plentiful as the Breck-
enridge Buckaroos trudged into
the “back room” of their club-
house and locked the door follow-
ing their 18-13 defeat by Sweet-
water Saturday afternoon.
After a few minutes they re-
turned to the dressing room,
quickly and quietly showered,
dressed and departed.
Scores of well-wishers, ex-Buck-
ies, friends and rival coaches con-
gratulated the players and coach-
es but failed to raise their damp-
ened spirits.
"Fumbles, oh those fumbles,”
said Coach Emory Bellard in ex-
plaining the difference in the ball
But some of the host players
disagreed.
Junior tackle Charlee Huddle-
ston said he thought halfback Ed-
die Scott was Sweetwater’s best
back and added that Pat Gerald,
guard and co-captain of the Mus-
tangs, was the best lineman for
the visitors
Linebacker Larry Parker, who v
did a fine job of tackling Sweet-
water’s James Parker on a num-
ber of plays, particularly in the
first half, admitted the Sweetwa-
ter back was good but said he
thought Graham’s Mike Rice was
better.
