Mills County students and both
scholarships were awarded se-
niors of the Goldthwaite Public
Schools. The literary award was
presented Sarita Howard and the
Athletic Award was presented to
Ruben Lippe.

The old suspension bridge
which was recently torn down
at the site of the new Colorado
River Bridge, provided unsuit-
able for erection at Regency.
Consequently Mills and San
Saba Counties have contracted
with the Austin Bridge Com-
pany to build a new bridge there
for $16,000. Mills County will
pay $5,000. The two counties
will use the timbers from the old
suspension bridge and some of
the pipe which was used for rail-
ing.
In the Texas Conference
Track Meet, held some two
weeks ago in Austin, Ralph
Swindle, former Goldthwaite
High School athlete, broke the
pole vault record, with a vault
of 12 feet, 8 and 3/4 inches. He
also ran a lap in the mile relay.
