Accountability
Rating
Star Independent School
District officially announced
that the district received a rat-
ing of “Superior Achieve-
ment”, the highest that a
school district can receive un-
der the Texas’ new School
First accountability rating sys-
tem.
The Superior Acliievement
rating is the state’s highest
demonstrating the quality of
Star ISD’s financial manage-
ment and reporting system.
This is the second year of
School First, developed by the
Texas Education Agency in
response to Senate Bill 875 of
the 76th Texas Legislature in
1999. Star ISD has received
the Superior Achievement rat-
ing for the second year in a
row.
The primary goal of
Schools First is to achieve
quality performance in the
management of school dis-
tricts’ financial resources, a
goal made more significant
due to the complexity of ac-
they pounded the Hornets
scoring 12 times. The Bull-
dogs held the Hornets to 0
scores and 0 first downs.

Saturday night Mills
County Park was the scene of
the annual quarterback club
barbecue. Approximately sev-
enty-five Goldthwaite High
School football players, their
coaches, families and fans en-
joyed the special dinner. Terry
McLean and Johnny Truitt,
two of the senior players on the
Eagle squad, commented on
the 1974 football team. They
both felt like the team would
be a strong group due to unity
among the boys. During the
barbecue, head coach Gene
Auldridge introduced the
Eagles players. Quarterback
Club officers elected for the
1974 football season were
Johnny Truitt, president; Joe
Benningfield, vice-president;
and Floyd Spradley, secretary-
treasurer.
Mrs. Jean Todd has been
selected as Mills County Out-
standing Young Homemaker
for 1974. Jean’s Outstanding
Award entry will now be sent
to compete with other local
Area IV winners. The Out-
standing Young Homemaker
of Area IV will be announced
at the area convention in Sep-
tember. Jean is an active
member of the Mills County
