Guthrie Peters, a kindergarten student from Priddy, tries his hand, or rather no
hands, as he participated in the Mutton Bustin’ during the Mills County Predator
Control Association Ranch Rodeo here Saturday night. Guthrie is the son of Wesley
and Dena Peters of Priddy. Organizers of the benefit rodeo were pleased with the
16 teams of ranch hands who entered. The nearly $9,500 raised will benefit the
Mills County trapper program.

Escapee caught after
lengthy chase on foot
Mills County sheriff's officers, assisted by volunteer
firemen and off-duty jailers, covered much of the area
around Goldthwaite during the morning hours on Wednes-
day to apprehend a Goldthwaite man who had escaped |
custody.
Alan Reynolds, charged with felony driving while in-
toxicated following a vehicle accident on County Road
213, was brought in to the Mills County jail by Deputy
Chris Green, handcuffed behind the back. He arrived at
the jail at about 9:30 a.m.
Reynolds managed to get his legs through the cuffs and
when the officer turned toward the jail, he bolted and ran
south along the alley. He turned and ran down Parker Street
where he escaped the officers on foot.
He was eventually spotted in a pasture northeast of town
and officers closed in to bring him back into custody. The
second arrest was made on the Jamey Wigley ranch.
Sheriff Doug Story said an additional charge of felony
escape from custody will be assessed against the escapee.
