Veteran's Day
Program
set for Nov. 11th
By: Jim Bowie
The ninth (9th) annual Veterans's Day Program
will be held on Veteran's Day, Friday November 11,
2005 at 11:00 AM in the Mills County Civic Center.
Lunch will be served at 11:15 AM so that everyone
can be served before the program begins at 12:00
noon. The roll call of all Veterans will be called with
the recognition of branch of service announced. A
carnation will be presented to each Veteran in atten-
dance and these will be handed out by the Middle
School Student Council. Widows of Veterans will be
recognized and presented a carnation also. Taps
will be played by Anna Gene Moreland.
This event has been a real success over the past
nine (9) years from when it began on a cold day on
the Mills County Court House lawn and then was
moved inside. The third year the Lion's Club began
serving the meal along with the help of generous
contributions by the American Legion Post and the
Veteran's of Foreign Wars. These two organizations
have helped for the past several years and are greatly
appreciated. The average attendance to this event
has reached as high as 400 people and a list of Mills
County Veteran's totals close to 300 according to
Jim Bowie.
Please mark this special day and send the form
below to Jim Bowie, PO Box 689 Goldthwaite,
Texas 76844 or call at 648-2001 or (325) 451-0973.
Please register so plans can be made for the meal.
Thanks.
