A new group will join us
on Wednesday when 30
school kids, teachers and
aides will arrive in school
buses for five days of wagon
riding. They will come from
several schools across Texas
and are sponsored by Texas
Parks and Wildlife and
TETRA (Texas Equestrian
Trail Riders Assoc.) and is
named “Outreach Ride”.
The purpose of inviting
this group to ride with us is
educating and enticing
younger people to utilize our
Texas Parks and Trails that
are being improved and ex-
panded all over the state. The
Tetra organization is a fairly
new group dedicated to im-
proving equestrian activities
all over.
Any person that would
care to be a part of our ride
is invited to come to our
campground by 8:00 a.m. or
for more information call
Trail Ride Coordinator Levi
Truett Auldridge, 325/648-
3356. Friday night after sup-
per we have an auction start-
ing about 7:30 with Grayson
Wetzel as auctioneer. Satur-
day night will be our dance,
starting about 7:30 to 10:30
and we will have a new
dance slab donated by Bill
and Betty La Rue of
Brownfield, Texas. A live C
& W dance band “The
Sunriders,” R. C. and Becky
Wiley from Early, Texas will
be there. There is no charge
for any of our activities but
we do accept donations to
cover our expenses.
An added attraction at the
camp site will be a big buck-
skin mule named “Trigger”
that is trained to stand per-
fectly still without being tied.
Owner, Festus Winton guar-
antees this mule will not bite,
kick or buck and anybody,
young or old can ride him or
take photos with him. He
will be there all week so
don’t miss this unusual and
good looking animal.
Stock Show
Validation Update
Mark your calendars now for
the stock show validation dates.
All sheep and goats will be
validated on Tuesday, October
25. This validation will take
place at 4:00 p.m. at the Central
Texas Livestock Center.
All exhibitors are asked to be
in line by 7:00 p.m. This
validation will include all market
lambs and goats that are to be
state validated, all market lambs
and goats that are to be county
validated, all breeding sheep,
and all breeding goats.
In other words it is for any
sheep or goat project that plans
on being shown at the Mills
County Youth Fair or a major
livestock show. This validation
will also be for all dairy heifers
and beef heifers that were not
previously validated. This will
be the only validation for these
projects, so it is your responsibil-
ity to make arrangements to be
there.
Each exhibitor must have a
parent with them and are asked to
bring their social security num- •
ber. Market lamb exhibitors
planning on validating to attend
the Star of Texas Fair in Austin
must have their Texas Lamb
Breeders Association tags. In
order for their tag number to be
recorded on the validation form,
the tag must be in the ear or
placed in the ear at validation.
All fees are due at this time.
There will be no exceptions.
County tags cost $3.00 per tag.
County entries will also be taken
at this time. Entries will cost
$3.00 per entry. Please be
reminded that all market animal
exhibitors must be in the third
grade or nine years old by
September 1, 2005, Breeding
divisions are open to youth in
grades K-12. Remember that
validation is a must for both the
County Livestock Show and any
Major Livestock Show.
Swine validation will be held
on Monday, November 21. This
validation will be for all swine
projects. This will be the only
swine validation. There will be
no swine projects validated on
October 25.
D. F. Tucker, Dr. Charles Graham and Tyler
Graham, owners, sincerely say...
