day, no one can write about the weather like
he can.
I simply cannot let this issue go by
without commenting on the wacky weather.
A couple of weeks ago the wind blew so hard that a door almost took
a finger off a local merchant. As they used to say, the city girls were
holding their hair and country girls were holding their skirts.
The next day, it was calm and blissful. Paperwhites and bluebon-
nets started popping up everywhere. Spring had truly arrived. ,
Friday, people were wearing shorts into the Graphic office and
teens were tanning on a rooftop. Could summer be around the bend?
No. Winds blew chilly temps and rain back into the picture
Saturday. The baby and I had a cold so we cuddled up at home for the
day. I sought refuge in fuzzy slippers and flannels.
Sunday afternoon, I turned off the heat and opened the windows.
Aaaah. Charles put on shorts and worked on the lawn. But that night,
brrr. I turned up the heat and put my extra blanket back on the bed.
Good grief, this was getting confusing.
Monday morning Charles and I had to check outside before we
dressed; I picked a long-sleeved shirt and should’ve picked a wool
sweater. There were reports of snow in Sherman and sleet in
Richardson. Salley, my faithful office assistant, said she was putting
the liner back in her coat.
But wait, I think there may be a pattern developing. If my calcula-
tions are correct, tomorrow should be sunny, 90 degrees with a slight
chance of blizzard..’ -’ ..
