Drew Strickland
completes basic
• U. S. Navy Seaman Drew Strick-
land graduated from basic training
on Sept. 2 at Naval Recruit Training
command in Great Lakes, IL. Drew
was recently on two week leave stay-
ing with his wife Jessica Strickland in
McKinney. On Oct. 16 he reports to
his first duty station in Norfolk, Va.,
where he will be a Seaman aboard the
USS Mason.

A black mask, a black cloak, black
socks and black pants, Megan Boggs
and Sarah Orwig dressed as “Bat-
man and Robin,” won the Freshman
Cottey Class (FCC) elections and
became president and vice president
respectively.
The FCC election was held in
conjunction with the Student Govern-
ment Association (SGA) election on
Tuesday, Sept. 6. Run-off elections
for vice president of FCC took place
on Thursday, Sept. 8. Freshmen chose
eight FCC members from 16 contend-
ers and six SGA members from 18
candidates.
The presidential candidates in-
cluded Elizabeth Ferree, Emily Corn
and Megan Boggs; another presiden-
tial candidate, Sarah Orwig, competed
against Lindsay Rader and won in the
run-off election for vice president.
The first elections were held on Tues-
day in the Missouri Recital Hall. The
hall was filled with over 100 of the

Cole Eldredge of Morrilton, Ark.,
would like to announce the birth of his
baby sister Regan Renae Eldredge. Re-
gan arrived in Wilson N. Jones hospital
on Friday, Sept. 30,2005, at 12:48 p.m.
She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and
measured 20 inches long. Her parents
are David and J.J. Eldredge of White-
wright.
Regan’s maternal grandmother is the
late Vickie Ainstrong and her maternal
grandfather is Tinker Toney of Potts-
boro. Her paternal grandparents are Pat
and Jessie Mesker of Whitewright and
Jim El gredge of Whitesboro. Her proud . . c

One-year-old Alyssa Rose Mu-
rillo, who was born on Aug. 30,
2004, celebrated her first birthday at
her home in Garland recently. She
celebrated with many family mem-
bers, including her parents, Hector
and Barbara Murillo; brother, Max;
sister, Lacy. Also attending were
her grandmothers, Beverly Nanos
of Commerce and Rose Murillo of
El Paso, great-grandmother Barbara
Ferguson of Garland, aunts Phyliss
George of Rockwall and Sandy
Ferguson of Richardson. Other
relatives include her grandfather
Pete Nanos of Galveston, Mildred
Lacy and Joe and Bessie Tilger of

Sara Grace Westbrook cel-
ebrated on Saturday, Oct 8 for
her Sept 30 1st birthday. A party
was held in her honor at her home
at 210 W. Travis St. in Leonard.
Family members and friends came
to celebrate, from Frisco, Celina,
Prosper, Sherman and Leonard. The
theme of the party was pink flowers
and purple butterflies and a special
cake was decorated with a picture
of Sara. Everyone had firn and Sara
was so tired that she fell asleep,
before her gifts were opened. Sara
is the daughter of Eric and Laura
Westbrook.
Christmas parade set
1 The Leonard Chamber of Com-
merce Christmas Parade is set for
Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. on the
downtown square.
The theme has not be decided
upon, and the choice will be left up
to the kids. The PTL is coordinating
a theme idea contest with the elemen-
tary school, so kids should put their
thinking caps on! Details will be an-
nounced soon.
