NISS LOI8 PARKER. 5 *
Mrs. Parker's splendid work with the choir of the First Presbyter 1
Jan church has made that choir one of the most appreciated features of 1
the Sunday services, according to Dr. Nat F. Grafton, pastor.
Mrs. Parker will direct the beautiful Easter cantata, “Christ Trium.
phant," in April, and members of the congregation who have attended
rehearsals are looking forward very much to the event. The cantata la
by Hine, an American composer, sod is comprised of the choruses, tenor 1
solos, duets, trios and the recitative. It is considered- one of the best
sacred numbers among the compositions of the present musical eras. !
Twenty-two members of the choir-including its entire personnelwin
take part. I - I
3 It is of interest that Mrs. Parker sang the soprano solos in “Christ
Triumphant under the direction of Mine himself in the St. John’s Epis-
copal church, ft Los Angeles, and later in San Francisco, several years
ago, when seventy five voices presented the cantata.
