Next Spring
With over 200,000 orders for Ford Cars and
Trucks already placed for delivery during
the next few months, we are facing a record-
breaking spring demand.
Each successive month this winter has
witnessed a growth in sales far surpassing
that of any previous winter season. This
increase will be even greater during the
spring months, always the heaviest buying
period.
These facts suggest that you place your
order early to avoid disappointment in
delivery at the time desired.

: The Sleepless Servant
When you are ready, so is your electric helper. And
it is an expert helper. Take a vacuum sweeper, for
instance. It gets all the dirt all the time. All you do
is turn on the switch or push a button—and steer
the sweeper around.
Electricity for Power
Electric power is rapidly replacing all other forms of
power both inside and outside the home. All over the
world electricity is saving time, strength and
money. And what it does for the largest mill in the
country, it will do for the smallest task in your home.
A Its uses in connection with labor-saving
and money-saving appliances areinnum-
2 erable. Better pour home with it now.

Pages of U. S. Senate
Have Varied Duties
Pages in the senate are appointed
by the sergeant-at-arms of the sen-
ate. The chief requirement is that
they must be between twelve and
sixteen years of age. They are paid
$2.50 a day during the entire ses-
sion, besides a bonus of $20 a
month. Thia means every day,
from beginning to the end of the
session, including holidays and
Sundays. The pages may be dis-
missed at any time for misbehavior,
though dismissal is seldom neces-
sary.
The sergeant-at-arms regulates
their duties without reference to
whether the senate ia actually ait-
ting or not On daya when the aen-
ate does not convene, though nom-
inally in session, the boys serve in
relays. -
Ordinarily senate sessions begin
at 13 o’clock noon, but pages must
report for duty at 9. They are kept
busy arranging papers on the desks,
filing the daily Record, distributing
bills, petitions and reports, guard-
ing the doors to prevent visitors
from entering after the floor has
been cleared for the senate.
A Bird's Nest as Big
as Good-Sized House
A bird's nest as big as a house!
It sounds a tall order, and you
might think that only some kind of
super-ostrich could make it.
As a matter of fact, it ia built by
a little fellow no bigger thin a
canary. South African society birds
like company. They live in large
colonies, all the members of which
build in the same tree.
Each pair constructs a nest of
mud, joining its walls to those of its
next door neighbors. As the col-
onies are several thousand strong,
the bird town soon readies a very
respectable size.
The following season the colony
occupies the same tree, building new
neats on top of the old ones. The
tree creaks and groans, but the
society birds take no notice.
Sometimes the huge mass of nests
comes crashing down, and the air
is filled with dust, feathers and
frightened squeaks. But often the
tree itself is weighed down by
the industrious colonizers until
eventually it collapses beneath the
weight of their homes.
Remembering Dreams
Dreams occur when sleep is light
and generally after 4 o’clock in the
morning. Remembering dreams is
something of an art and is de-
veloped by practice. With training
tlie average person is able, on awak-
ing in the morning, to recall about
four distinct dreams. These are
generally unpleasant, ranging from
embarrassment and disgust to the
extremity of fear. “Sweet dreams,”
so often wished for, go unremem-
bered as a rule. The evil that late
suppers do in promoting night-
mares, like the evil deeds of men,
lives after them.
- England’s Pompeii
Uriconium is the name of Eng-
land’s hidden city, occasionally re-
ferred to as “England’s Pompeii.”
It is located in Shropshire,- not far
from Wrekin by the River Severn.
It was built by the Romans and
was larger than Pompeii. It was
destroyed by fire and battle about
1,600 years ago and for the last 200
years periodical efforts to “dig it
up” have been made, with the result
that a large portion of it is now
uncovered, and some historical data
have been found in the various
efforts.
City Vs. Country
The birth average on the farm
is 40 per cent greater than it is in
the city, but the child born on the
land will bring up in a city apart-
ment before he dies. As long as
the country holds out, the city will
have population. Since the dawn of
time the drift has been from coun-
try to city. It looks as it this would
keep up. .______
