i The cabinet, the heads of ini-

sisters, so it won't put me out of
the show business," he assures.
At present Dr. Nugent has
about 60 pigeons which he has
raised in a space 14 by 28 feet,
“with lights and water and every-
thing."
In pointing out that his this
year's champion represents a
repetition of the honor he won
two years ago with his Queen of
Texas, he recalled that the first
national winner picked him out of
a group of several other men, a
year after he had sold her.
“Each pigeon has a personality
all its own," he says, “and I can
stroke one like I would a kitten,
or talk to him like 1 would a
child, and he will coo right back
to me."
Displaying his beauties, is one
of the real thrills of It all, he
thinks. Other places where he
has shown the birds in the past
year are Memphis, Tenn., Houston
and Springfield, Mo. The high-
est award of the show went to one
of his birds in the Houston event.
At Stock Show.
He plans to exhibit at the Stock
Show in March, but only a few,
he says, “because he doesn’t want
to take too many prizes and dis-
courage other entries."
In addition to raising the birds.
Dr. Nugent writes articles about
them for national pigeon maga-
zines, answers inquiries about
them, judges shows, and as a di-
rector in the National Pigeon As-
sociation, helps pigeon raisers in
the 14 states of his district solve
their pigeon problems.
He also is vice-president of the
American King Club and of the
Texas Pigeon Association. He
lives at 1412 South Adams."
