Jonathan Terry Jones was
awarded the Boy Scout rank of
Eagle in a recent ceremony at
The Colony Park Baptist Church.
Jones earned the highest rank
in Scouting at age 15. He is the
thirteenth scout in Troop 226 to
earn the rank, and one of the
youngest in the council. Troop
226 is the oldest Boy Scout Troop
in The Colony.
Only 2 percent of the boys who
enter scouting attain the rank of
Eagle Scout, according to the
Boy Scouts of America.
Jones is the son of Gary and Lu
Ann Jones. He entered scouting
in Missouri at age 11. In 1984, the
Jones family moved to The
Colony.
The three flag poles in Scout
Park, on North Colony, were
errected by Jones for his Eagle
Scout service project.
An honor student at The Col-
ony High School, Jones is active
in the school choir. He is also a
Texas State staffer of the Royal
Ambassadors for Christ, an orga-
nization sponsored by the Texas
Southern Baptist Convention.
