This weekend, the McKinney May Pair
comes to The Ranch. Watch people from all
walks of life square off in the Battle of the
Businesses at the Beach and Tennis Club or
just relax and enjoy the refreshments. We’ll
have wagon rides, balloons and fun for the
kids. This weekend, May 6th and 7th, at
Stonebridge Ranch.

Little Miss Mayfair will be selected at
McKinney’s Mayfair ’89. The competition
will take place on Sunday, May 7 at 1 p.m.
Girls between the ages of 3 to 8 are eligible
to participate.
Sunday or party dress with an old-
fashioned look in white or pastel colors are
suggested attire - no pageant type dresses
are acceptable. Participants will be judged
on overall appearance and presentation.
Deadline for entries was April 21, with an
entry fee of $5. The age range will be
divided into two groups: 3 to 5 and 6 to 8.
Participation will be limited to 15 children in
each category.
Mayfair ’89 will be held on the square in
historic downtown McKinney starting the
evening of May 5 and continuing through 7.
A wide assortment of activities and enter-
tainment is planned.

Ringers, leaners or anyone who just plain
enjoys horseshoe pitching are invited to parti-
cipate in McKinney’s 1st Annual President
George Bush Horseshoe Pitching Competi-
tion to be held at Mayfair ’89 on Saturday,
May 6 starting at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mayfair
’89, sponsored by the McKinney Chamber of
Commerce, will take place on the square in
historic downtown McKinney starting Friday,
May 5 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, May 7,
closing at 5 p.m.
The horseshoe pitching competition,
named after the President because of his love
of the sport, will be one of the many activities
planned for the weekend. The fee to enter the
competition is $5 per team of two. Each team
is guaranteed two games. Participants can
bring their own regulation shoes, or shoes will
be provided. Trophies will be awarded for
first, second, third place winners and honor-
able mention.
Pre-registration is suggested. Applications
and information on Mayfair ’89 is available at
the McKinney Chamber of Commerce at P.O.
Box 621, McKinney 75069 or call the chamber
at (214) 542-0163.
To get to the downtown square from North
Central Expressway (75), take exit 40 East on
Louisiana St. There is no admission fee to
Mayfair ’89. Free parking is available.
