The building would house the police
department, an emergency operations center
and the municipal court. Funding for the
new building comes from bonds approved
by voters in May.
Greer provided examples of “green build-
ing” design elements, which can improve
the energy efficiency of the building, but can
also add to up-front costs.
A public hearing on annexing 4.8-acres on

favored the annexation.
There were no speakers and no staff pre-

City employees provide
holiday hams for needy
City of Boerne employees recently contributed just over $350
from their own pockets to provide hams for needy families in the
Boerne area.
“The whole purpose of this holiday initiative was to show how
much city employees care about others in this community,” said
City Manager Ron Bowman.
“Because of their giving spirit, many families will now be able to
enjoy these hams with their holiday meals,” he said.
On behalf of the employees, Bowman and members of his staff
delivered 40 hams to the Hill Country Family Services headquar-
ters Monday for distribution to area families.
Cookie Edwards, the operating director of Hill Country Family
Services, said she has been overwhelmed by the generosity of local
residents.
“This is an incredibly giving community,” she said.
