Local Agrilife
office offers
food safety
training course
Kendall County’s Texas AgriLife
Extension Service will conduct a
professional food manager certi-
fication training course April 6-7,
2010 in Boerne.
This program costs $110 per per-
son and includes training, materials
and the State food manager certifi-
cation examination.
Each food establishment under
the Texas Department of State
Health Services (DSHS) juris-
diction is required to have one
certified food manager on site.
Food manager certificates will be
valid for five years.
Statistics indicate that each year,
1 in 4 Americans will become sick,
1 in 1,000 will become hospital-
ized, and 5,000 will die due to a
foodborne illness.
This program is designed not only
to prepare foodservice managers to
pass the certification examination,
but to provide valuable education
regarding safe food handling.
For more information, call
Angela Fiedler, Kendall County
Extension agent, at 830-249-9343
or email afiedler@ag.tamu.edu by
March 15.

Wilm’s tumor at age 13 months,
but now is 11 years old and cancer
free.
Locks of Love transforms
donations of long hair into wigs
for children who are victims of
cancer.
Allison Murphy of Tres Bella
Salon did the honors of cutting
Sara’s golden locks.
