Many schools consolidated with Rochelle
Several.schools have consolidated
with Rochelle over the past 70 years.
Mercury was the last one to do so.
Others joining Rochelle included
Corn Creek, Milburn, Cowboy, Mid-
way, Fairview, East Sweden, Claxton,
Round Mountain and Placid.
Most of those consolidated peace-
fully, however; Mercury wanted to
join up with Brownwood.
The county board objected, there-
fore Mercury went with Rochelle.
