Brady ‘s Sth hoys post three victories, win Llano tourney
The Brady eighth grade boys
’ boosted then season with a strong
win streak last week by downing
district rival Ballinger in a 24-19
home victory before traveling to
Llano and bringing home the first
place trophy
In the Ballinger matchup, the
Bulldogs were boosted by a quartet
of three-pointers Jon Langseth and
Charles Bow en each drained a pair of
tres to help lead the team to victory
while teammates Kevin Airheart,
Nolan Landes and Tyler Campbell
were lauded by the coach for their
work on defense.
"John and Charles really helped
with their scoring and I was really
- impressed as to how we controlled
Ballinger s explosive offense." said
coach Oscar Villa "Airheart, Camp
bell and Landes did a great job con
trolling the boards and getting into
position."
The offense got off on the wrong
foot as Ballinger came out and ran up
a 9-0 score before Brady even got on
the boards.

narrow the gap
The Brady defense kicked things
into overdrive after intermission and
returned the favor and shutout Ball-
inger while their own offense gained
control of the game in the third. The
Brady boys held off a late-game chal
lenge by the Bearcats and stretched
out their lead for the win.

In the fir,st round of the Llano tour-
ney. Brady easily handled the home
team, 47-23, thanks in large part to a
19-point effort by Langseth. Bowen
added 11 more and J.T. Owens posted
eight to aid the victory.
"Two Bulldogs had double-digit
scoring thanks to a couple of hot hands
in the third quarter," said the coach.
“Langseth had five three pointers and L

Llano roundball tournament
The Brady freshmen took one on
the chin from the Wylie Bulldogs
'Tuesday night as the outmanned
Brady team lost, 83-29.
In a lopsided game from the opnen-
ing play, Wylie came out blazing and
put up 23 points in the first quarter
alone and never looked back.
The Wylie team used II players
to put points on the board w ith two
scoring in double digits
Brady struggled from the onset and
managed only eight points in the first
quarter before the gates slammed shut
and their offense was virtually shut
down by the Wylie defense.
In al I. Wylie posted an unusual stas-
tistic of scoring 23 p. ints i n three < if the
four quarters while Brady struggled
to get their buckets to fall.
Ed Ayala was the top scorer for
Brady with eight followed by Will
Schumann with six.

Playing three games last week, the

young Doggies a chance to shine as
they blasted the Broncos, 47-16
The Brady squad dominated the
Broncos from the start and held them
to a mere four second-half points in
eluding a fourth quarter shutout

I he Brady seventh grade girls split
a pair with Ballinger last week w hen
the A team pulled out a 24 21 victory
while the B team lost, 13-8
The A team used a 16-2 second
period to pull ahead of the Bearcats
and despite a lull in the scoring dur-
ing the third period, they held on for
the win
Adrianna Villarreal led the scor-
ing for the A team with 10 followed
closely by Michelle Owens w ith nine.
Jordan Hernandez added three and
: Jeanette Barron lacked on two more

The B team split the scoring
equally with Teagan Tolden, Kayla

Earlier in the tourney, Brady
handed the home team a solid 37-23
loss w ith six different players posting
points on the scoreboard.
Earlier in the week, Brady took on
Ballinger and used a dominating first
half of play to build a lead they would
never relinquish.
Led by Resendez's 17 points, the
Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-0 lead
in the first quarter and never looked
back

the second half outscoring the Bull-
dogs 17-10. but the Brady team held
on for the win.
