Rotary Club learns about
West Texas Boys Ranch
The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday, March 23 at 12 noon at the Cafe
on the Square.
Student Rotarian Mandic Fullagar was present for her second visit. She
informed the club of her intentions to attend South Plains Junior College in
Levelland and then attend Texas Tech to pursue a degree in photography.
Program chairman Clay Jones introduced Lawrence Williams, executive
director of West Texas Boys Ranch Foundation located in San Angelo.
The West Texas Boys Ranch utilizes a family-based model of care. Boys
live in individual homes or "cottages," with up to seven other boys and with
a married "cottage couple" who serves as a parental role model.
Each boy has his own room and enjoys the camaraderie of other boys
in the house. In this environment, boys learn responsibility and help with
cottage chores. Positive behavior is reinforced. The boys attend school in
Mertzon.
The S2 bill was won by Mike Schaffner for knowing that 1/3 of the
world's Rotarians live in North America.
Program chairman for March 30 is Liesa Land, Brady High School prin-
cipal; and for April 6 is Martin Leatherwood.
