Welcome rains

McCulloch
County
Rain Totals
New Community
Development Director
named by board
Very timely rains, welcomed by farmers and ranchers, soaked
McCulloch County last weekend and began again today.
Many rain gauges were broken last week by the low tem-
peratures that reached the upper teens. Rains came from the
southwest, heading northwest.
Calf Creek registered the most rain, 4.20 inches, along with
Placid, 4.00. Other big totals were 3.80 at Doole, Rochelle got
3.75, Mercury, 3.40, Fife, 3.20. and Voca and Melvin got 3.00.
County AgriLIFE Extension agent Vance Christie said that
the rains will help the small grains.
"It will build up our moisture reserve," he said. " This was
one of the benefits of the rains the water runoff. It will fill the
tanks, creeks and reservoirs.”
Robbie Turk, at Calf Creek, said that he had a small lake
that was getting full.
"It looks like we'll have an outstanding spring," he said.
Brady officially got 2.68 inches.
Others were East Sweden, 2.84 inches, and Pear Valley, 2.70.
A massive, slow-moving system started adding more rain in
the early morning hours today (Wednesday) and it was expected
to continue on through much of Thursday, with totals possibly
reaching as much as two more inches before it ends.
