rick was showered with ralnbow-
hued handkerchiefs by her friends
In the Missionary Socicty who wish-
ed to express their gratitudo and
appreciation of her work for the
society before she left on her va-
cation trip.
Sandwiches, lemonade and dough-
nuts were served by the visitors in
lier honor.

Rev. Carter Brings
His Bride to Borger
Rev. Orion W. Carter, who
brought his' bride, formerly Miss
Gladys Emily Bryant of Hereford,
here last Week was married last
Sunday after services in the even-
ing at the Methodist church in
Hereford.
Preceded by a wedding supper at
six, the bride find groom were mar-
ried at an informal ceremony per-
formed by the broom's lather, Kev
H. W. Carter of Happy,.
The church, crowded by visitors
and friends, was lavishly decorated
with i fer^ns and roses. The bride
wore' ft paljft^pink- picture hat and
louffant dress of the came color.

accompanied by bridesmaids or

Immediately after the wedding
ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Carter de-
parted for Happy. They arrived in
Borger Tuesday evening and have
declared their welcome a royal one.
Epworth League Has
Party for B. Y. P. I.
For the first time in Borger the
young people of the Methodist
and Baptist churches jnet at a
large party when the Epworth
League entertlined the B. Y. P. U.
Kenneth Wood, who «as the en-
tertainer, kept, the crowd of over
fifty young people laughingly busy
at games. The refresh.ileitis were
punch and wafers.
Phillips Ladies Are
Methodist Guests
The Methodist M. S. entertained
the newly formed Phillips Society
at their regular meeting la3t Thurs-
day afternoon. Miss Oermainy led
the lesson after which refreshments
Were served to all present. The

and Mrs. Bonnie Hall was matron
of honor. A bridal breakfast 1*
announced at the limine of Mrs. Hall
for 9:30 a. m. today, to be attend-
ed by Mr. and Mrs- Owen, Mrs.
Hall, Mrs. Hill, Miss Florence Para-
dise of Houston.
Mr. and Mrs. Owen will make their
home here after a short trip.

Gathering at the home of Mrs.
Frank Brown, the numerous friends
of Mrs1. Fred Douglas surprised her
with a delightful handkerchief slow-
er and luncheon last Wednesday as
a farewell before her departure on

atives in Colorado. Those partici-

At her home In south Borger, Mrs.
I. C. Tmmel entertain«d the members
of the Loff-A-Lott Club last Thurs-
day afternoon. After six warmly
contested games, Mrs- Floyd Ward
was awarded the high, and Mrs.
Mabel Corey the low. Mrs. Clyde
Neal will entertain the Club next
\v«'ek and as soon as all the mem-
bers hav£j entertained the two hold-
ing the lowest score will have to en-
tertain the ladies and their husbands.
Has Party at Church
With stories and games and songs,
the King's Daughters %nd the Sun-
beams were entertajned by fljrs.
Will Orrick and Mrs. C. O. Dlllard,
assisted by Miss Irene Irvine, Sat-
urday afternoon at the Methodist
church. Upon paper plates sand-
wiches, cookies and glasses of cool-
ing lemonade were served to the
eager children who thanked their
hoste^i and departed, talking of
the good time th<-y had had.
Wednesday the bridge dub receii
two new members, Mrs. C. G. H i
inson and .Mrs. Kelly. The prises
for the day were awarded to JÁs-
H. D. Irvan who scored high, and
Mrs. W. T. Malone who received
low.

At Marland Camp
Mrs. Nick of Marland gave a de-
lightful party at her Jiome last
Friday afternoon. There ¡were three
tables of ladies two. Mrs. Kelly and
Mrs. Roach were guests from Borger.
Mrs. H. B. Brest secured' the high
score and Mrs. I). E. Vaguer the
low. which was two small bars of
soap. Mrs. Wagner decided to be
generous and shared her prize with
stcond iow, Mrs. McGrath.
The decorations wore carnation*,
and each guest received one folded
napkin when refreshments ware
served.

MRS. CARTER IS GIVEN
PRESENT IIV LADIES
Thursday afternoon the Methodist
Missionary Society delivered a large
package to Mrs. O. Car'er. who, up-
on opening it, found a large assort-
ment of beautifully embroidered
tea towels.
Gathering in the Methodist church
last Tuesday night in the most 1 n-
licotis costumes the Fellowship class
reported a glorious time. A grand
parade in which the guests poser
to represent the character they
portrayed nearly turned the party
Into a riot.
Many games followed and re-
freshments of ice cream cones. Af-
ter the affair Mis. O. W. Carter re-
ceived a welcome shower from the
Sunday School Class.

A Sunday Picnic
Laden with baskets, fishing tackle
and broad hats a group of friends
assembled for a picnic last Sunday
afternoo at a stream 12 miles east
ni Borger and succeeded in thorough-
ly enjoying themselves- After lish-
íng. wading, and games, the crowd
assembled around a camp Are and
feasted on lint coffee and the con-
tents of the baskets. Those who at-
tended the picnic were Mr. and Mrs.
Sheridan Davis and family; Miss
Oleta Davis; Mr. and Mrs. Ray
White, Monty Lee Pearson, Phillips
Doyle, B. A. Bearson, Miss Murphy
and Lee A. Pearson. The party re-
turned in time to attend the com-
tdians tent show.
