Homecoming
Planned
At Stamford
STAMFORD (RNS) - Second
annual homecoming festivities for
the alumni of Stamford High
School will get under way Oct.
14-15 on the campus of the school.
L. E. (Red) Million, homecoming
chairman. Mid that activities will
begin Friday, Oct. 14, at 1:30 p.m.
with registration of students, for-
mer students and graduates of the
school.
Registration will be in the high
school gymansium.
Candidates for the homecoming
queen nomination will be announce
ed next week. The queen will be
crowned during the halftime ac-
tivities of the Stamford • Spur foot-
ball game.
A registration supper will be
held in the school cafeteria Fri-
day, Oct. 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The final day of activities in-
clude registration from 9 to 12
in the gym, a reception honoring
all teachers and ex-teachers ag
the Home Economics Cottage, in-
dividual class picnics throughout
the afternoon, a barbecue supper
served in the football stadium at
6:30 p.m. and a business session
* 7:30 p.m.
Officers for the 1961 homecom-
ing will be elected along with the
naming of a date for the next
meeting, special awards and rec-
ognitions will be included in the
meeting.
Registration fee is $1.50 per per
son which includes the Saturday
night meal. 1
Individual class reunions will be
held either Friday or Saturday at
the option of the classes.
The Stamford Retail Trade com-
mittee chairman, Harold Wilka,
has already sought out merchants
who will decorate store windows
and interiors to carry the home-
coming theme. Mayor W. B. Har-
rison has proclaimed the week of
Oct. 10-15 as Homecoming Week
to round out the full program.
Million is asking that all classes
send the names of their appoint-
ad president to him as soon as
possible so that the elections this
year may be planned in advance.
Many persons still have not been
reached by the various class com-
mittees and the list now stands at
about 60 persons.
Heads of various committees
who will take care of the arrange-
ments for the major part of the
homecoming activities include:
Mrs. Pat Prewit, registration:
Mrs. W. L. Stem, Jr., mailing and
addressing notifications; Al Ber-
ry, honoring teachers and ex-
teachers: Brad Rowland, class
meetings and socials; Lewis Tim-
berlake, publicity and printing of
invitations; Mrs Nat Wash. eve-
ning meal for Saturday, and Mrs.
Joe Mims, homecoming queen de-
tails.
