While most of our performances
are in the San Antonio area, we have
played in Houston, Moulton and
Clovis, New Mexico. We are not a
dance band. We do a combination of
country. bluegrass, folk and a little
bit of old lime rock and roll, but its
kind of hard to describe exactly
what to call our stuff. We do have a
lot of fun doing whatever it is you
call this and people seem to enjoy
clappin', singin' and stompin' along
with us. We don't have any plans of
trying to be ".stars." As long as we
keep having fun doing this and as
long as folks continue to have fun
joining us, we'll keep pickin' and
grinnin' like we used to out under
that old tree in the front yard.
We are really looking forward to
playing at the Dilley Ranch Rodeo.
We hope to see ya'll out there on
Saturday, October 8th from 5 to 7
p.m.
A couple of us are involved in

Property Tax Rates in the City of Cordlia
This notice concerns 19 88 property tax rates for the City nf Cntul l a . It presents information about
three tax rates. Last year’s tax rate is the actual rate the taxing unit used to determine property taxes last year. This
year’s effective tax rate would impose the same total taxes as last year if you compare properties taxed in both years.
Compare it to the tax rate the taxing unit proposes for this year. This year's rollback tax rate is the highest tax rate the
taxing unit can set before taxpayers can start tax rollback procedures. In each case these rates are found by dividing
the total amount of taxes by the tax base (the total value of taxable property) with adjustments as required by state
law. The rates are given per $100 of property value.

A few years back a group of
family, friends and neighbors used
to sit out under a big old tree in the
front yard and sip a few suds. A
couple of us played some basic
chords on guitars and we would do
some simple pickin' and grinnin’ on
some old country and bluegrass
tunes. One day Mama Miceli got
some spoons out of the house and
started keeping rhythm Scratch
thought that sounded pretty good so
he went and got an old washboard
and thimbles and started scratchin’
along with the tunes Before long we

she was looking for a jug band to
perform one night during NIOSA.
For some reason known only to her.
Thumper jumped in and said that
we had a jug band and we would be
happy to play. Now that sent the rest
of us into a panic but we all decided
to give it a shot. Well we played
about 6 songs at NIOSA that year.
With our nerves calmed by ex-
tensive applications of Colorado
kool aid, we sloshed through our
performance and the NIOSA
crowd really got into the hand
clappin’, foot stompin’ spirit of it all.
After that first gig we were all
hooked. We started doing things like
chili cookoffs, American Legion
turkey shoots, VFW parties, fund
raisers and a few private parties.
