this will contribute to the child's

Girl Talk
........-By Ruth Higdon-----
The city girl fell in love with the
young farmer. He look her out to
meet his folks and they liked her
right away. His little sister took
her out to look at the calves.
"Do you know the difference
between the girl calves and the
boy calves?"
The girl was nervous about the
question. "No, how do you tell the
girls from the boys?"
"It’s easy. The girls have tags in
their ears."

A tasty snack that I never heard
of before: Frogs on a log. It is
made by spreading peanut butter
on a piece of celery and sticking
raisins along in the peanut butter
to make the frogs.

Here is a different dip that Janice
Hindes makes. If all is not eaten,
freeze the rest.

Frio Hospital transfers an
average of 30 patients a month to
San Antonio hospitals by air
ambulance, EMS and commer-
cial ambulance services. There is
an appropriate level of urgency
and cost associated with each of
these services.
The Baptist Hospital System
in San Antonio has an outstand-
ing air ambulance service for all
the hospitals in this region called
AirLife. They can land their heli-
copter next to the hospital in twenty
minutesand charge about S1 ,600.
Naturally this mode of transpor-
tation is reserved for situations
where time is super-critical.

One of my favorite people, Mrs.
Blanche Brown, was 101 years on
August 2, 1991. She is in the
Heritage Manor Nursing Home
in Devine, Texas. She and her
husband, Fred Brown with at least
two of their six children (Avis,
Mickey, Charlie, Anna, Carol
(Pitts), Bill, and Faye) came to
Moore about 1917. He began
work with Pete Conover in his
store and later, after a partner-
ship, he bought the store. Mrs.
Blanche worked along with him
and she was a great worker in the
Baptist Church. Also, all socials
at the Moore High School could
count on her help. She loves to
take a Sunday School Group on a
picnic or Halloween Trick or Treet.
Hope she had a good birthday.
She is confined to her bed now.
Many happy memories.
Birthday greeting to Miss Wil-
lie McIntyre’s sister, Fannie
McIntyre near Austin, who cele-
brated her 95 years.
Recent birthdays were Marie
Fargason of Austin visited by her
parent J.E. and Millie Fargason,
brother Ray, Debi and Jami of
Moore. Jami Fargason is August
20, 1991. Bob Hardt is August 5.
Marie Gonzales is August 12.
Magdelena Esparza is August 18.
Dale Terry was August 3. Betty
Gentry had a birthday.

Commercial ambulance serv-

and is covered by Medicare.
Medicaid and some health insur-
ance, if ii is medically necessary.
The cost is about S500 plus sup-

companies want cash, since
"medical necessity" may be denied
by the third party payor.
tant. Our local EMS is staffed by
a paid part-time director and vol-
untary Emergency Medical Tech-
nicians (EMP), trained in
emergency procedures. Their four
modular ambulances arc stationed
in Pearsall and Dilley. They are
not staffed and funded to make
routine transfers of non-critical
patients. A typical transfer to San
Antonio would cost about S300.
