Dear Editor,
I am writing as the President of
the Frio Unit of the American
Cancer Society. There have been
a number of questions about the
look-a-like Cancer Organizations
fund raising in our area. The
materials sent through the mail
closely resemble those the Ameri-
can Cancer Society uses during
our door-to-door campaign.
We are concerned that many
people will think they are sup-
porting the American Cancer
Society. Everyone that receives
these packets should examine them
closely, read the small print and
be informed as to how their con-
tribution is spent.

It is fitting that the Pearsall
Chamber,of Commerce be com-
plimented, congratulated, and
thanked for the great Christmas
Parade they produced. Also, for
the other activities they have
sponsored. Their hard work and
devotion to making Pearsall a
better and more progressive town
is to be applauded. Pearsall is,
indeed, fortunate to have such
young and vigorous people direct-
ing its Chamber.
The businesses, churches,
schools, individuals, organizations
and other communities that par-
all the calls, visits, cards and prayers
that were sent to console us dur-
ing a most difficult time. Your
thoughts and prayers are sincerely
appreciated at this time. We hope
that you will all bear with us and
continue to work with the remain-
ing office staff for any of your
water conservation needs.
Sincerely,
Clifton L. Stacy, Pres.

Water Conservation Dist.

Thanks To Our Community
As 1991 comes to an end, we
would like to give thanks for your
continuous support. It has en-
abled us to improve our services
to clients in the vast region that
we serve.
With your help and an increase
in funding it isallowingus toopen
outreach offices in Bandera, Frio
and Val Verde counties. In addi-
tion to the home office and shel-
ter in Hondo, we are operating a
full time satellite shelter in Uvalde
with a children’s program for both
residents and non-residents.
We have received funds for a
Rape Crisis Program in Uvalde
County and hope to expand it to
Medina County in 1992-1993. We
are negotiating with Del Rio and
Val Verde counties to develop a
program for counseling, a chil-
dren’s program and a safe house
where clients can stay until trans-
ported to the full service shelter
in Uvalde.
