hospital spokeswoman said.
According to DPS reports, a
1991 red Chevrolet, driven by
Gonzales, was southbound in the
Deputy Benavidez said during
a telephone interview Tuesday that
Williams’ body was discovered by
his father around 11 a.m/, Tues-
day, in his bedroom at his trailer
house at 1 108 Live Oak in Cot-
ulla.

death of a Cotulla man found shot
at his trailer early Tuesday, Janu-
aty L has been deemed as an
apparent suicide.
La Salle County Deputy Rene
Benavidez said Brian Williams,
27, originally from Big Wells, was
pronounced dead at the scene at
11:30 a.m. by La Salle County
Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace
Bill Peters.

MOORE - A late-night colli-
sion left two San Antonio people
dead and a Moore man serious
injured Sunday, January 5, on IH-
35 south of Moore in Frio County.
Texas Department of Public
Safety accident reports said
Zulema Cantu Salazar, 66, and
Richard Gonzales, 17, were pro-
nounced dead at the scene at 11:35
and 11:40 p.m. by Frio County
Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace
Carlos Garcia.
Salazar and Gonzales were the

Cavazos said Jose Garza, 36,
was booked for unlawfully carry-
ing a weapon and possession of
marijuana.
Garza was released from county
jail on Dec. 24 in lieu of S2,000
bond set on both charges. He was
later filed on for possession of
stolen property and arrested once
again.

PEARSALL - Two Pearsall
men were arrested for drug pos-
session and later for stolen prop-
erty and burglary charges, follow-
ing a struggle with police on
Monday, December 23.
Pearsall Police Chief Emilio
Cavazos said Carlos Marq uez, 27,
was arrested for possession of a
controlled substance (cocaine).
Chief Cavazos said Marquez
was later charged with burglary of
a habitation.
Bond for the drug charges was
assessed at S15,000, but Marquez
refused to be magistrated by Frio

by a Frio County EMS unit to

the Chevrolet.
Reports further stated that
Gonzales was apparently not aware
of the whereabouts of his vehicle.
The Chevrolet crossed the
center strip into the path of the
oncoming vehicles heading north,
reports said.
The Gonzales vehicle, reports
said, then collided with a 1991
Chevrolet pickup, driven by
Aguinaga
Reports said neither Gonzales,
nor Salazar were wearing their
seatbelts at the time of the acci-
dent. However, Aguinaga was
reported to be wearing his seatbelt.
The accident occurred at 11 p.m.,
Sunday on 1-35 near mile marker
111, 4 miles south of Moore and
was worked by DPS Trooper
Johnny Ruiz.
The bodies were taken by Royal
Oaks Funeral Home in Pearsall.
The vehicles were towed by
Mike’s Garage and Joe’s Garage
in Pearsall.

of Dilley has proclaimed January
5 through January' 12, 1992 as
annual clean-up, fix-up, and paint-
up week.
In conjuction with this cam-
paign, all discarded items such as
old furniture, hot water heaters,
air conditioners and other bulky
waste items will be picked up by
Garbage Gobbler (please do not
include brush; it will not be picked

Pedro G. Nieto, an Attorney of
Uvalde, has announced his candi-
dacy for the position of State
Representative in the 43rd Legis-
lative District which includes Frio
& La Salle Counties in the March
10, 1992 Democratic Primary.
Nieto has practiced law in the
Wintergarden area since Febru-
ary 1978. As a Legal Aid Attor-
ney, Nieto provided services in
Uvalde, Medina, Frio, Zavala, and
La Salle counties. Nieto opened a
private law practice in 1985 and
has continued to practice general
civil and criminal trial law in
Uvalde, Medina, Frio, Zavala,
Dimmit, Maverick, Val Verde, and
Bexar Counties primarily.
Nieto is a trustee of the Uvalde
County Hospital Authority which
operates Uvalde Memorial Hos-
pital. Nieto is also an appointed
member of the Texas Lawyer’s
Assistance program, which is a
committee of the State Bar which
deals with Attorneys and judges
who are impaired by substance
abuse, senility, and other handi-
caps. He is a past member of the
American Cancer Society Uvalde
chapter and has been a certified
alcoholism and drug abuse coun-
selor until recently.
Nieto attended the University
of Michigan and obtained a Bache-
lor’s Degree in English Language
and Literature in 1966and gradu-
ated from the University of Michi-
gan Law School in 1976. He has
been a precinct chairman in the
Democratic party in Uvalde
County in the past and his an-
