The Shelton Wesley class of young
people of the South Wilcox Metho-
dist church met for their regular
business and social meeting Tuesday
night at the home of Misses Davis,
1001 South Tennessee street.
Sixteen members answered to the
roll call. Several visitors were pres-
ent who were given hearty welcome.
Games of nearly every description
were played through the evening.
Delicious ice cream and cake was
served by the hostesses. The next
meeting June 9 will be held on Mon-
day night on account of the League
conference at Sherman.
Mr. and Miss Ray have consented
to entertain next time.

The local Chamber of Commerce is
helping the farmers to fight the pest.
They give out the following formula:
“The most effective remedy dis-
covered for grasshoppers so far by
the Department of Agriculture is the
following poisoned bait:
“The mixture known as the poison
bran bait has proved to be a simple
reliable as well as a cheap method
of destroying grasshoppers and has
been applied with success throughout
many portions of the United States.
It is made up as follows: Wheat bran
25 pounds, Paris Green or white arse-
nice 1 pound, lemons or oranges 6,
finely chopped, low grade molasses
known as black strap 2 quarts and 2
to 4 gallons of water.
Thoroughly mix the bran and poison
while dry, chop the fruit fine and
mix well and last the molasses and
water are poured over the bait and
all worked together. A course flaked
bran is the best, but ordinary mid-
dlings are all right. A very low grade
strong smelling molasses is very im-

a very successful term. We all en-
