North Texas will be decided at the
* Glenwood field this afternoon.
North Fort Worth’s winners arrived
last night and were met at the sta-
tion by About 150 of Amarilio'a sport
loving crowd and escorted to the
Elmhirst Hotel where they stayed
last night.
Experienced estimators say the
Fort Worth men were from 3 to 5
pounds heavier per man than the lo-
cale, and that staking them on an
average they are better than the
Comanche team which played her
laet season.
Coach Myers, when interviewed
last night, stated that his team was
in fine shape and that unless the
fates were agalast his bunch, the
Panther City would be credited with
having championship material by
tonight.
Coach Crudgington stated last
night that hie chances were never
better and that all of his best play-
ere would be available for the game
,this afternoon. Hoy Bowder, who
has been out of the game most of
the year on account of minor Inju-
ries, is in good shape for today and
has been putting in some hard prac-
tice with tho forward pass during
the past few weeks in anticipation
of the present crisis. He ie believed
to be one of the best players of the
Amarillo team and features the pass.
From the best information ob-
tainable, the force of both teams will
be the forward pass and they are
both expected to do some spectacu-
lar work along that line. The open
formation will be indulged in by
both sides It to believed and this will
render the game more easily under-
stood and appreciated by the aver-
age spectator.
The field at Glenwood has been
placed in the best of condition and
the view from the grand stand will
be superb.
An attendance of from 1200 to
1500 to expected. About $200
worth of tickets have been disposed
of and there to every reason to be-
lieve that that much mere will be
* taken in this afternoon, demonstrat-
ing that the sport lovers are confi-
dent of a game that will be worth
the time and expense of everyone.
The following are the names of
the visitors who expect to take part
in the game this afternoon:
‘ Shirley Brick, Shirley Simmons,
Jeff Robertson. Jack Turner, Jimi
Weaver, Will Roswell. Will Jones.
Robert Bonham, Robert Mathis, Ron-
co Minton, Paul Walthall, Madison
Bell, Ralph Hopkins, Robert Myers

a big league club to the pennant.
Roger Bresnahan has become the
manager of the Cubs, and will lead
them next year, and, it is said, for
three years, according to his con-

No long ago Bresnahan was rank-

as one of the three great catchers

Thanksgiving Dinners Ready
* A
The various Young People’s Socle-
ties of the Local Union will send out
about twenty-seven well filled bas-
kets today to brighten the homes of
as many families that have met with
sickness and other misfortune and
who, but for the neighborly and
Christian kindness of others would
have no opportunity to enjoy a gen-
mine Thanksgiving dinner.
Each of the above societies agreed
to donate so many baskets, and
beautiful flowers will be left with
many who are in ill health and are
“shutins’”, at least for the time he:
lag. Some interesting and pleasing
literature will also be distributed.
A committee went out a few days
ago and located as many needed fam-
HIM as the societies felt they were
able to supply.
Nor will these dinners be any
mean affairs. The baskets will con-
tain chicken, batter. Irish potatoes,
sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce,
fruits, celery, ete. Most everything
will be already cooked ready to
serve.
A number of persons have donated
the use of their automobiles and at
8:30 this morning they will start out
and continue the work until their
task to completed,
it will be difficult for many of,
these unfortunates to see and under-
stand how people can be so kind and
so thoughtful. <

committee was to issue the following
appeal to the public:
"As the need for funds for the
suffering Belgians is very urgent,
we take this means of calling the
matter to the attention of the peo-

make ss liberal donations as possi-

sending same to anyone of the mem-
