announced today they will call a
"General Assembly” of the
Jewish community on January
9, 1972, at Temple Beth Israel at
7 30 in the evening.
This rally will mark the
beginning of the 1972 United
Jewish Campaign and Israel
Emergency Fund drives in

and star drummer of Johnny
Carson’s NBC “Tonight Show”
band, returns Sunday, Dec. 12
to conduct a “Drummer’s Child
Concert”, between 3 p.m. and 5
p.m., at the High School for the
Performing and Visual Arts,
located on the corner of Holman'
and Austin.
During this free clinic,
Bellson will demonstrate
important drum techniques and,
as a special treat, will join the
high school’s “Performing Arts
Stage Band” for a guest
performance featuring some of
his famous “big band”
arrangements. Not just drum
enthusiasts but all music lovers
will be treated to a great
afternoon of music.
Bettelheim To Speak
At JC Center Sunday
Dr. Bruno Bettelheim, noted
child psychiatrist, author and
lecturer will be featured speaker
in the Kaplan Theatre of the
Jewish Community Center, at
8:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 12. Dr.
Bettelheim’s appearance is the
second event in the Center’s
1971-72 Jewish Cultural Arts
Series. He will lecture on “The
Kibbutz Personality,” drawing
upon material from his latest

Chanukah Latke Party on
Tuesday evening, Dec. 14, at the
Mercantile Bank auditorium.

CHANUKAH CELEBRATION
A Brith Shalom family
celebration will take place on
Sunday, December 12, when the
children of Kitah Aleph and Bet
will become dreidels, Maccabees,
latkes and toys at the Chanukah
celebration to be held at 10:00
a.m. in the Social Hall.
They will be joined by fairies
and clowns from Mechniah I, II
and 111. Together, both groups
will perform in a Chanukah
make-believe extravaganza of
song and dance. At the
conclusion of the play, Kitah
Daled, Gimal and Hay will join
in lighting the first Chanukah
candle and in singing Chanukah
blessings and traditional songs.
Mrs. Debbie Ostroff will be in
charge of production, assisted by
Mrs. Charlotte Rubin, Mrs.
Rochella Cooper, Miss Ronnie
Colbert, Mrs. Lina Landau, Mrs.
Clara Horvitz and Mrs. Rivka
Shashar. Mrs. Harriet Moser will
provide the piano
accompaniment.
