—Harry Bradner has been arrested
on a charge of theft of a gold watch
and two chains from a boarding house
on Soledad street.
—One of Carter & Mullaly’s baggage
wagon teams started to run away on
Alamo plaza yesterday afternoon.
They were soon stopped and no barm
done except sprinkling trunks over
the plaza.

THE PURIM CARNIVAL
Given by the Pliilomathlan Literary
Society at the Casino.
The Casino hall was comfortably filled
by members aud friends of tne Philoma-
thian Literary society Saturday evening.
Comparatively few masks were seen
but the majority ot them were good
Miss Alice Moritz as "Me and My Ma”
was about the best gotten up costume on
the floor. It represented an old woman
carrying a boy on her back the boy doing
the talking and the woman the walking.
Emil B um as Peter Jackson and
Manny Coben as John L. Sullivan had
quite a slugging match. Mr. Horwitz
acted as referee and time keeper. John
knocked Peter out in three rounds. Miss
Beckie Deutsch was a sweet carnation
pink; Miss Hannah Frank wore a
pretty fancy costume; Sam Rosen-
field red headed negro dude; Miss
Blanche Roentield was pretty
baby; Miss Dora Baum blue domino:

At 12 o’clock the masks w ere removed
and the dancers adjourned to Lang's
restaurant where Mr. Lang had prepared
for them a delicious oyster supper. The
supper over they again commenced the
dance which lasted near 2:30 o’clock.
J. Hetlemann kindly furnished cos-
tumes for those coining without them.
Henry was there with a corpse of assist-
ants consequently nothing is missing.
The committee who arranged the affair
and to whom great credit is due were:
Misses Blanche Rosenfield. Alice Moritz
Messrs. Emanuel Cahen Emil Blum and
Ike I. Lorch.

The following cases were filed in Judge
King’s court:

The case of Rische vs. Diesselhorst Sat-
urday. judgment was given in favor of
defendant for $15C0.
An order was made this morning to the
effect that no action would be taken
affecting the first class indebtedness of
the S. A. & A. P. Ry. Co. without first
notifying the attorneys of the Centra)
Trust company and the Fanner’s Loan
and Trust company.
In Judge Noonan's court the following
cases were disposed of:

Work or Thugs.
Theodore Dachner a workman living
on Government Hill was picked up on
avenue C near Eight street Sunday
morning about 2 o’lock having a cut in
his head which rendered him senseless.
How long he had been lying there is not
known but he was very bloody and near-
ly finished. He was taken to the city
hospital by the police who were sum-
moned.
Dachner cannot speak or give any ac-
count of himself. As his pockets were
empty and he had no money it is sup-
posed he was robbed.
AMUSEMENTS.
“County Fair” held the boards at the
Grand opera house last night and a large
audience was drawn thither. The play is
well staged and the scenery throughout
is very correct and realistic being es-
pecially prepared for this play.
Delightful comedy runs through a fine
love plot and keep* the audience interest-
ed as well as amused. The company is
wall chosen not a stick is to be seen
among them and altogether the piece Is
what It always has been a success.
It will be repeated tonight and tomor-
row night.
