Last night on account of the limit-
ed seating capacity of the Prospect
Hill Baptist church a platform was
erected in the church yard and the
Rev. Mr. Daniels delivered his ser-
mon from this platform to a crowded
congregation who occupied benches
and chairs in the yard or stood up.
For several nights past protracted
meetings have been held at this
church to large audiences but last
night’s congregation was the largest
that has yet attended. Tonight an-
other meeting will be held.

Seeing With One Eye.
Brooklyn Eagle.
A person may see as far with one
perfect eye as with two but be can
not see as clearly; for the advantage
that binocular or double vision pos-
sesses over monocular or one-eyed
vision Is that the former by allowing
the observer to catch sight of the ob-
ject from two different points of view
gives him at once some idea of tbe
proportions of its different parts. But
though this is true in theory in prac-
tice the judgment Interferes aud the
judgment has been educated and In
some measure rendered independent
of the services of binocular vision by
experience and the use of oilier
senses such as touch. Thus a man
with only one eye is never deceived
as to the nature of an object with
which be is well acquainted for the
report of it that be gets from his
vision is corrected and supplemented
by his experienced judgment and
transmitted to his centers of con-
sciousness in as perfect a form as that
which reaches those of a man with
two eyes. The advantages of binocu-
lar vision may be thus further illus-
tiated. In rapidly dipping a pen into
an inkstand or putting a' stopper into
a decanter the one-eyed man can not
judge so accurately as the two eyed
man. Or again if we shut one eye
and attempt to plunge the finger rap-
idly into the open mouth of a bottle
we are very apt to overreach it or fall
short ot it.

What’s the Matter With It?
If you think there’s anything the mat-
ter witli your watch let us take a look at
it. Don’t let it go on ticking itself to
destruction. A few particles of dust will
in a week do more damage than the or-
dinary wear and tear of a whole year of
keeping time. Any watch is well worth
taking care of; the more your watch is
worth the better worth taking care of
it is. Of that kind of thing we make a
specialty aud tf our charges are not
moderate there isn’t such word as mod-
eration in the dictionary unabridged or
otherwise.
