The readers of this paper will be pleased to
learn that there is at least one dreaded disease
that science has been able to cure in ail its
stages and that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh
Cure is the only positive cure known to the med-
ical fraternity. Catarrh being a constitutional
disease requires a constitutional treatment.
Hall’s Catarrh Cure is taken internally acting
directly upon the blood and mucous surfaces of
the system thereby destroying the foundation
of the disease and givingthe patient strength
by building up the constitution and assisting
nature in doing its work. The proprietors have
so much faith in its curative powers that they
offer One Hundred Dollars for any case that it
fails to cure. Send for list of testimonials.

THE RECRUIT'S LAMENT.
May the Devil take the sergeant and
his circumventing crew.
Who seduced me to the rendezvous and
dressed me up in blue;
They measured me and told I was just
the lad to win.
The shoulder straps in half a year if
I’d just go in.
They took me to the depot a charming
little isle.
Just off the City of New York about
an Irish mile
Where I saw the flags a waving and
heard the music play
1 thought I was a fairy boy just land-
ed from the bay.
If Mary Kelly could have seen the
Limerick lad that morn.
As he sallied through the sally port
with hair and whiskers shorn
With eye so bright and foot so light
she would have rued the day.
She jilted him and sent him from old
Ireland away.
But a change came over my spirit be-
fore morn
When they shipped me on a transport
bound for Eden—in a horn —
Then I had visions of Cactus swamps
and brakes
Soldiering down in Texas ’mong centi-
pedes and snakes.
I went upon the sick report I felt a
little ill
I took a dose of castor oil or cathar-
tic pill
And if I’d chance to die they don’t
care a jam
For the doctor has done his duty and
he is paid by Uncle Sam.
Now I’m in the guardhouse and I’ll
work for my discharge.
To the deuce with the corporal and
the sergeant of the guard.
And if I get a “bob-tail” I don’t care
a jam.
When I think about the pork and
beans I ate With Uncle Sam.
If I ever catch that sergeant the cir-
cumventing scamp
There’ll be music in the quarters
there'll be muntiny in camp
For I'll lay for him so sure as my
name is Paddy Bly
And I'll have a little settlement or
know the reason why.
