GLORIOUS REVIVAL
IN ASPERMONT
Grand Awakening. More Than
150 Conversions. Lasting
Good Accomplished.
The unexpected has come.
The town of Aspermont has
had a religious awakening within
the last ten days that makes an
epoch in its history—a revival
that has reached every home in
the towrt—an upheaval, as it were,
that ha spiritually revolutionized
the entire town and vicinity.
It has often been remarked
that the one great need of our
little town was a higher moral
and spiritual standard—not that
the citizenship thereof, or any
part of it, was made up of a
characterless class—not that there
was qiuch factional strife, de-
nominational prejudice, personal
malice or any of those conditions
so often injurious to the welfare
of a town, and to the demoraliza-
tion of its interests. But there
was a state of indifference to
things moral—a state of lethargy
to things spiritual that were all
but elevating in their influences.
It is different now. This peo-
ple has been placed on a higher
plane of action. Life has been
elevated. The town has been
cleansed, renovated, purified.
Aspermont has been converted,
Aspermont has got religion.
This revival, which exceeds in
magnitude anything of its kind
in this section of the country, was
conducted by Rev. W. M. Mcin-
tosh, a noted Methodist evange-
list of the State of Mississippi.
His twenty years experience in
envangelical work has made him
a power in the Lord's vineyard.
His power was manifest in the
beginning of the meeting. The
churches were aroused, sectar-
ianism was cast to the winds and
members of all denominations
vied with each other in their in-
terest for the saving of friends
and loved ones. Truly, this
unity of action b}r representatives
of all churches was the key to the
success of this revival. Revs.
Ford and Hollers, pastors of the
organizations here, forgot which
church they belonged to. Men
who were never before touched
by the gospel of Christ were
stricken down, boys and girls
who never before probably had
a serious thought of a future life
were awakened to a realization of
their condition and stepped out
in another and higher sphere of
life. They took their friends
with them.
tinued till few unbelievers are
left in this town.
The meeting closed Tuesday
night with one hundred and fifty-
six conversions, most all of whom
will affiliate themselves with some
church which will more than
i double the numerical strength of
j each of them.
May heaven's richest blessings
' rest upon the new Aspermont.

NO PICNIC

mam
' c
Owing to the fact that the com-
mittee has wholly failed to raise
funds sufficient to defray the
expenses of the picnic advertised
for August 27-28, we have decided
to call same off. We regret very
much to have to do so. but this
committee cannot afford to pay
the expenses of same out of their
own individual funds, conse-
quently we are forced to this
action. Respectfully,
P. Brady,
T. J. McCamant,
